Audi Q5 (2025-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Sharp styling | Expensive to buy |
| Practical interior with lots of space | Complex infotainment system |
| Polished driving experience | Average warranty coverage |
Quick Summary
The Audi Q5 (2025-present) is a premium family SUV that combines upmarket styling, efficient engines, and impressive practicality. This third-generation model is available in standard five-seater and coupe-like Sportback variants, powered by either a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol or 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine, both producing 201bhp with mild hybrid technology. A plug-in hybrid e-hybrid variant offers approximately 60 miles of all-electric range. The Q5 features a longer wheelbase than before, delivering enhanced interior space with reclining rear backrests and sliding rear seats on higher trims.
The Q5 excels in practicality with a 520-litre boot (515 litres for Sportback), expandable to 1,415 litres with seats folded, plus abundant interior storage including wireless phone charging. Driving dynamics are polished and refined, with responsive steering and excellent ride quality, particularly on optional air suspension. Fuel economy is respectable at 37-40mpg for petrol and 44-47mpg for diesel. Whilst expensive to purchase from around £50,000, the Q5 holds its value well. The infotainment system, though visually impressive, can be complex to navigate. Insurance groups range from 37-45, reflecting the vehicle's premium positioning.
Best for: Buyers seeking a premium, practical family SUV with sharp styling, refined driving dynamics, and strong residual values, particularly those prioritising comfort and technology.
Not ideal for: Budget-conscious buyers, those seeking simpler infotainment systems, or drivers wanting maximum warranty coverage as standard.

The Verdict
You should buy the Q5 if: You're seeking a premium, practical family SUV with sharp styling, refined driving dynamics, and strong residual values, particularly if you prioritise comfort and technology.
Consider alternatives if: You're budget-conscious, seeking simpler infotainment systems, or want maximum warranty coverage as standard.
Competitive Position: The Audi Q5 (2025-present) remains a strong contender in the premium SUV market, offering excellent practicality, polished driving dynamics, and distinctive styling. Whilst more expensive than rivals like the BMW X3 and newer Chinese competitors such as the Omoda 9, the Q5 justifies its premium pricing through superior build quality, refined performance, and strong residual values. The Volvo XC60 offers comparable safety credentials and user satisfaction, whilst the Omoda 9 provides more equipment at a lower price point. For buyers prioritising premium brand appeal and driving refinement, the Q5 remains a highly desirable choice.

What people say
This is the car that i wanted it drives very well and looks good on the road
Overall the car is fantastic. Very smooth and quiet drive with the confidence of All Wheel Drive and steep decent assist. The only reason I drop to 4 stars is due to a lack of gadgets and sat nav but some might see that as a benefit as its a straight forward driver.
Fantastic car, great drive, bags of space and comfortable.
The car is exactly what I expected and it was good value for money. I would compare it Jaguar F type, BMW X 3 or the Landrover Discovery Sport or at least these were the SUVs I was looking at.
Already have a Q5 it’s a beautiful drive & has the kind of features that for me makes it an affordable (just) luxury car.
