Audi Q7 (2026) Pros and Cons

Pros	Cons
Great to drive	Expensive to buy and run
Very practical and versatile	Touchscreen tech is overcomplicated
Lavishly equipped	Looks will be divisive

Quick Summary

The Audi Q7 (2026) is a spacious and thoughtfully practical seven-seat luxury SUV that delivers exceptional comfort and refinement. This third-generation model sits on Audi's advanced PPC architecture and features a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance, quattro four-wheel drive, and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. At 5,056mm long, it's a substantial vehicle with a bold, upright design that prioritises SUV aesthetics. The cabin is lavishly equipped with dual touchscreens, panoramic roof, matrix LED headlights, and comprehensive safety features, whilst adaptive air suspension and four-wheel steering ensure composed, confident driving dynamics.

Practicality is a genuine strength, with flexible middle-row seating that slides and features climate controls, plus improved third-row space for adults. The one-handed seat-folding mechanism is ingenious for families with child seats, and six Isofix points are rare in seven-seaters. Boot space totals 210 litres with all seats up and 722 litres in five-seat mode. Running costs are considerable, with official WLTP fuel economy of 36.3mpg, though a plug-in hybrid variant will follow. At over £80,000, it's premium-priced but competitively positioned against rivals like the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLE.

Best for: Affluent families seeking a spacious, refined, and comprehensively equipped seven-seat luxury SUV with excellent driving manners and thoughtful practicality features.

Not ideal for: Budget-conscious buyers, those prioritising low running costs, or drivers who dislike divisive styling and complex touchscreen interfaces.

Comparison vs Key Rivals

The Verdict

You should buy the Q7 if: You're seeking a spacious, refined, and comprehensively equipped seven-seat luxury SUV with excellent driving manners and thoughtful practicality features for affluent families.

Consider alternatives if: You prioritise lower running costs, dislike divisive styling, or find complex touchscreen interfaces frustrating.

Competitive Position: The Audi Q7 (2026) is a standout in the luxury seven-seat SUV segment, offering superior practicality, lavish equipment, and composed driving dynamics. Whilst the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLE are comparable alternatives, the Q7 edges ahead with its thoughtful family-focused design, including ingenious one-handed seat folding and six Isofix points. The Volvo XC90 offers Swedish minimalism and potentially lower running costs, but the Q7's more spacious third row and comprehensive standard equipment make it the more versatile choice for families. Premium pricing is justified by the exceptional refinement and practicality on offer.
