Bentley Continental (2018-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| A huge advance over its predecessor | Such class and quality come at a price |
| Amazing blend of agility and continent-crossing comfort | Extremely high running costs |
| Opulent interior is truly luxurious | A Ferrari 812 Superfast is more exciting to drive |
Quick Summary
The current Bentley Continental GT (2018-present) represents a significant leap forward, now sharing its underpinnings with a Porsche Panamera rather than a Volkswagen. This redesign has resulted in a car that masterfully blends the dynamism of a sports car with the cosseting luxury of a limousine, offering a far more agile and responsive driving experience than its predecessor. Available with powerful twin-turbo V8 or W12 engines, it boasts impressive performance, advanced chassis technologies like variable anti-roll bars and four-wheel drive, and a quiet, comfortable ride suitable for long distances.
Inside, the Continental GT is a showcase of opulent craftsmanship, featuring a 12.3-inch infotainment system, full leather trim, and a suite of driver assistance systems. Its 358-litre boot and surprisingly spacious rear seats make it one of the more practical options in its segment. However, this luxury and performance come with extremely high running costs; expect low fuel economy (around 20mpg for the V8), four-figure tyre bills, substantial VED, and costly annual servicing, making it a purchase for those unconcerned by expense.
Best for: Buyers seeking the most rounded grand tourer, those who appreciate an exceptional blend of sports car dynamism and limousine luxury, and drivers who are unconcerned by high running costs.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising pure track-focused agility (like a Ferrari 812 Superfast), ultimate long-distance serenity (like a Rolls-Royce Wraith), or those sensitive to significant running expenses.

The Verdict
You should buy the Bentley if: You're looking for the most rounded grand tourer, seeking an exceptional blend of sports car dynamism and limousine luxury, and are unconcerned by high running costs.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise pure track-focused agility (like a Ferrari 812 Superfast), ultimate long-distance serenity (like a Rolls-Royce Wraith), or are sensitive to significant running expenses.
Competitive Position: The Bentley Continental GT (2018-present) stands as a benchmark in the grand tourer segment, offering an unparalleled balance of performance and luxury. While rivals like the Ferrari 812 Superfast might offer more raw excitement and the Rolls-Royce Wraith greater opulence, the Continental GT's ability to combine both with exceptional comfort and surprising practicality makes it a uniquely compelling choice. Its advanced engineering and sumptuous interior justify its premium position, though prospective owners must be prepared for substantial running costs.

(33 reviews)The car not only looks beautiful, sounds beautiful, performs beautifully and much of it is built by hand. Its just BEAUTIFUL!
The Bentley Continental is one of the best second hand buys, they are so cheap now. If you buy one just make sure it has a good recent history. Minimum of the last 3 years. The only car that compares is the BMW M5.
The 2015 Bentley continental is unmatched. So much of the car is hand built. The leather upholstery is hand stitched by 120 skilled women in the factory, the woodwork is similarly cut, shaped and finished by hand. The car weighs in excess of 1.75 tonnes yet can top 200mph!
It’s a superb car with great handling characteristics. Negative side was the very clunky and basic navigation system. Mine was very reliable , it was always serviced by the manufacturer with whom I had no complaints. I deeply regret selling mine.
If you want the ultimate G.T. car look no further than the Bentley Continental with a range of 2 engines the 4lt V8 which suits the car well. If for the most of the time your stuck in city driving or your cruising on a motorway its a brilliant balanced car. But if you want the extra power and can understand how brilliantly engineered the 6lt W12 engine is then this is the power plant you want in your car. If your going to cruise Europe this will cruise all the motorways including the autobahn,s if Germany brilliantly. Also the safety features on this car are amazing. Traffic warning if your in a blind spot alarms, collision avoidance. The reversing camera but Bentley took it further by giving 360 warning making parallel parking easy. The ability to view the satnav in the instrument cluster as well as the main screen. The night vision to make driving on unlit roads safer. There are so many please read all the information on these cars and if you dont understand anything ask the sales person. They are so helpful. As for the seats and Interior the quality of craftsmanship is incredible. The air suspension that adjusts its self and will even raise the car to avoid an obstacle in the road. These qualities are not found on other cars some come close. But if you want comfort and quality. Also to feel a car that helps you avoid collisions then you wont find a better car than the BENTLEY CONTINENTAL.
