Citroën Grand C4 Picasso (2013-2020) Pros and Cons

Pros	Cons
Brilliant cabin, with space for seven and lots of clever features	Not as fun to drive as a Ford S-Max
Soft suspension delivers a comfortable ride	Steering is overly light and remote
Good looking for an MPV	Some owners report electrical faults

Quick Summary

The Citroën Grand C4 Picasso (2013-2020) is an exceptionally practical seven-seater MPV that prioritises family comfort and versatility. The second-generation model, which received a facelift in 2016 and was renamed the SpaceTourer in 2018, features a spacious interior with an intelligently designed seating system. Three full-sized seats in the middle row slide, recline, and fold individually, whilst third-row seats stow neatly in the boot floor. The panoramic windscreen, super-skinny pillars, and low window line create an airy cabin with excellent visibility for all occupants. Even with all seven seats deployed, there's still useful boot space, and folding all rear seats creates a vast, flat-floored cargo area.

Ride quality and quietness are prioritised over handling, with a soft suspension that absorbs road imperfections admirably and a range of smooth, flexible engines. The 1.6-litre BlueHDi 100 diesel is road tax exempt if registered before April 2017, whilst real-world fuel consumption ranges from 50-60mpg on longer runs. The 1.2-litre PureTech petrol is better suited to frequent urban driving. Even base Touch trim includes two-zone climate control, cruise control, reversing sensors, and Bluetooth connectivity. Fixed-price servicing is available for models over three years old, with interim services from £175.

Best for: Families needing maximum space and practicality, those prioritising comfort and quietness, and buyers seeking a versatile seven-seater with clever design features.

Not ideal for: Drivers seeking engaging handling, those wanting responsive steering, or buyers concerned about potential electrical issues reported by some owners.

Comparison vs Key Rivals

The Verdict

You should buy the Grand C4 Picasso if: You're a family needing maximum space and practicality, prioritising comfort and quietness, or seeking a versatile seven-seater with clever design features.

Consider alternatives if: You want engaging handling, responsive steering, or are concerned about potential electrical issues reported by some owners.

Competitive Position: The Citroën Grand C4 Picasso (2013-2020) is an excellent choice in the seven-seater MPV market, offering outstanding practicality, intelligent design, and a comfortable ride. Whilst the Seat Alhambra scores higher with experts and the Ford S-Max and Renault Grand Scenic offer slightly better value deals, the Grand C4 Picasso boasts the highest user rating at 4.9 out of 5, reflecting strong real-world satisfaction. It excels where it matters most for families: space, comfort, and thoughtful interior design. If handling and driving engagement are priorities, the Ford S-Max may appeal more, but for pure practicality and family comfort, the Grand C4 Picasso is hard to beat.
