Dacia Sandero (2021-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Very cheap to buy | Modest safety standards |
| Roomy and practical cabin | Stingy list of standard kit |
| Affordable to fuel and insure | Basic fit and finish |
Quick Summary
The Dacia Sandero (2021-present) is lauded for its no-frills honesty and incredible value, maintaining its status as Europe's best-selling retail car. Built on the latest Renault Clio platform, it offers improved safety and luxury features while remaining one of the cheapest new cars available. It provides generous supermini space, comfortably accommodating tall adults in the rear and offering more boot space than most rivals, with split-folding seats on all but the entry-level model, making its practicality impressive for its price point.
While not the last word in precision, the new Sandero offers a decent driving experience, feeling secure and predictable with good suspension. The 1.0-litre TCe 90 engine provides eager enough power for relaxed driving, and an optional CVT automatic gearbox offers a smoother experience. Tech has improved, with Expression models featuring an excellent 8.0-inch touchscreen and useful amenities. Running costs are low, with the TCe 90 achieving over 53mpg, affordable insurance, and reasonable servicing. Its exceptional residual values also mean it protects its initial low investment remarkably well.
Best for: Drivers on a budget, those seeking a roomy and practical supermini, and buyers looking for affordable running costs.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising advanced safety features, those wanting a luxurious interior or extensive standard kit, or drivers seeking a highly refined or powerful driving experience.

4.7 Overall rating
(6 reviews)Road handling was excellent and responded excellent when applying brakes on the Motorways. It did extremely good on fuel - petrol and it really was a pleasure to drive it!
This car has got everything I need and more, superb smooth drive
I have the Access model which is a basic car. No central locking, no electric windows, however, these are not essential specs in my view. Great little runabout, cheap obviously, does the job.
