The Ford Cougar – not to be confused with the modern-day Ford Kuga SUV – was the second of Ford’s attempts at hitting the 1990s coupe zeitgeist, but like its predecessor, the Ford Probe, it fell rather flat. Under the skin, the ingredients were right, but the Cougar was hampered by awkward styling from some angles, a cheap, unappealing interior and the fact that it arrived just as coupes of its ilk were falling out of fashion.
