With its boomerang rear lights, split-level front end and wacky wheel designs, the new Hyundai Bayon certainly stands out. But beneath its radical styling, it’s a thoroughly conventional compact SUV. It lacks the clever seating of some of its rivals, but it’s spacious, surprisingly good to drive, and satisfyingly comfortable, too. What with the five-year warranty you get as standard, that makes it a good, solid all-rounder, if a slightly unexceptional one.
