The Optima is a four-door family saloon, and a very decent one at that. Its problem is that it was released at a time when the public was falling out of love with saloons, and it didn’t get the sales it deserved. That still makes it a solid used buy, though, because it’s smart has lots of equipment, and a cracking seven-year warranty. The Optima Sportswagon estate version adds extra practicality, and there’s also a fuel-efficient plug-in hybrid model.
