Packs a lot of bang for the buck. Theres a lot of stigma still associated to the Kia brand, but I liken this to how noone would touch Japenese motorbikes back in the day, but now theyve taken over and market leaders.

Kia Proceed (2019-2024) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Handsome estate-meets-coupe looks | Bland driving experience |
| Generous seven-year warranty | Limited engine line-up |
| Lots of standard kit | A bit pricey as a new car |
Quick Summary
The Kia Proceed (2019-2024) is a stylish shooting brake that combines the practicality of an estate car with the aesthetic appeal of a coupe. Launched in 2019, this modern interpretation of the Proceed badge offers 594 litres of boot space, which rivals traditional estates whilst maintaining a sleeker profile. The car is generously equipped across the range, featuring standard kit such as cruise control, LED rear lights, reversing camera, rear parking sensors, and heated front seats. A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and optional 12.3-inch digital instrument display provide contemporary technology, whilst the spacious rear seats comfortably accommodate six-foot passengers.
The Proceed's engine range has evolved since launch, with the initial 1.4-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel replaced in 2021 by a more powerful 1.5-litre petrol unit producing 158bhp. The range-topping GT model features a 201bhp 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Whilst the driving experience is competent and comfortable, it lacks the dynamism suggested by the car's sporty styling. Fuel economy ranges from around 40mpg with the 1.5-litre petrol to 45-50mpg with the diesel. Running costs are reasonable, with all models subject to flat-rate vehicle tax. Kia's seven-year warranty provides excellent peace of mind, and the Proceed has established a strong reliability record.
Best for: Buyers seeking a stylish, practical estate car with generous equipment, strong reliability, and a distinctive design that stands apart from conventional family vehicles.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising engaging driving dynamics, German build quality and interior finish, or seeking the most spacious boot available in the estate segment.

The Verdict
You should buy the Proceed if: You want a stylish, practical estate car with generous equipment, strong reliability, and a distinctive design that stands apart from conventional family vehicles.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise engaging driving dynamics, German build quality and interior finish, or require the most spacious boot available in the estate segment.
Competitive Position: The Kia Proceed (2019-2024) is a compelling choice in the premium estate market, offering distinctive styling, excellent equipment levels, and outstanding reliability through Kia's seven-year warranty. Whilst the Ford Focus Estate provides a more engaging driving experience and the Volkswagen Golf Estate delivers superior German engineering and interior quality, the Proceed's combination of striking design, practical space, and strong value makes it an excellent alternative for buyers seeking something different. The Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake offers premium appeal but at a significantly higher price point. For those wanting a five-door estate that combines good looks with ease of ownership and relative rarity, the Proceed is a strong contender.
