The new Mercedes-AMG SL is a two-seat roadster, with a history that stretches right back to the 1950s. This latest generation is more hardcore than ever, having been engineered by Mercedes’ performance arm, AMG (notice that it’s now called the Mercedes-AMG SL, rather than the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class). Despite that, it’s still intended to be a grand tourer in the style of its forebears. With a folding soft top, a variety of high performance engines including two V8s, the SL reads more like a supercar than a sports-roadster. Mind you, it’s supercar prices these days, too.
