Nissan X-Trail (2022-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Hugely practical | e-Power model is not as economical as you might hope |
| Lots of safety equipment | No plug-in hybrid option |
| Comfortable on long journeys | Some rivals offer more space in the third-row seats |
Quick Summary
The Nissan X-Trail (2022-present) is a family-focused SUV, available in both five and seven-seat configurations, emphasising interior versatility and extensive standard safety technology. It features a unique e-Power hybrid system, where a 1.5-litre petrol engine acts as a generator for the electric motor(s) that drive the wheels, offering a smooth, EV-like driving experience without plug-in capability. This model prioritises comfort and practicality, making it a strong contender in the competitive SUV market.
With a generous 575 litres of boot space in five-seat mode and wide-opening rear doors for easy access, the X-Trail excels in practicality, though third-row access requires some dexterity. Its ride is calm and comfortable, even on larger alloys, with light and predictable steering. While the e-Power's real-world economy might not always hit official figures (typically 36-42mpg), competitive pricing and strong residuals make it an attractive option. The infotainment system is functional, and it boasts class-leading safety equipment across the range.
Best for: Families needing versatility (5/7 seats), buyers prioritising comfort and safety, those wanting an EV-like drive without plugging in, buyers looking for good residuals.
Not ideal for: Buyers expecting top-tier infotainment graphics, those needing more third-row space than some rivals, or drivers prioritising absolute best fuel economy from a hybrid.

(33 reviews)I have the Tekna, has wonderfull features, very comfortable, and great Bose sound system.
In very good condition for the year. Could do with automatic folding mirrors.
This car has almost everything a driver can dream of. It was a peasant surprise to me. It has all I wanted: 7 doors, black, four wheel drive, back camera, leather seats etc. This car compares very well to Mercs GLA 250 Formatic. I know this because my wife drove this and I drove it too..
I really do like these cars. I have just purchased my 4th model . The standard features are good and the higher spec model are fantastic if I thought that they were no good I wouldnt have had 4 different models
Love the big boot. I drive a 04 xtrail and love it and these new ones are even better all round
