Peugeot 3008 (2009-2016) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Very good value as a used buy | Rear legroom a little tight for adults |
| Large boot | A Mazda CX-5 is more enjoyable to drive |
| Clever split boot lid | Some child seats can be difficult to fit |
Quick Summary
The Peugeot 3008 (2009-2016) was a unique blend of SUV, MPV, and hatchback, prioritising family comfort and practicality over styling. Despite initial confusion about its classification, it offered considerable interior space, a large boot, and good build quality for its era, including a distinctive wraparound dashboard. A 2014 facelift brought tweaked looks and engine revisions, but its core appeal as a comfortable and versatile family transporter remained consistent.
On the road, the 3008 prioritises comfort, offering a surprisingly competent ride, especially with the optional Dynamic Roll Control on higher-powered models. Engine options included 1.6-litre petrols and popular 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre diesels, with later additions like a punchy 1.2-litre turbo petrol. Equipment levels were generous for its time, including standard air conditioning on Active models and Bluetooth, though infotainment is dated. It achieved a five-star EuroNCAP rating in 2009, making it a safe choice for families.
Best for: Families needing space and comfort on a budget, those looking for a practical and safe used crossover, and buyers who appreciate clever features like the split tailgate.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising modern infotainment systems, those needing ample rear legroom for adults, or drivers seeking the most engaging handling experience.

Consider alternatives if: You prioritise modern infotainment, need ample rear legroom for adults, or desire a more dynamic driving experience.
Competitive Position: The Peugeot 3008 (2009-2016) offers excellent value as a used crossover, blending SUV and MPV practicality. While its styling might not win awards and its infotainment is dated, it provides a spacious, comfortable, and safe family transport option.
