Seat Tarraco (2018-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Lots of standard equipment | A little pricey compared with some rivals |
| Good to drive | Third row of seats really for kids only |
| Versatile interior | Badge doesn't quite have the Kudos of a VW |
Quick Summary
The Seat Tarraco (2018-present) is a stylish and practical large seven-seater SUV, offering a compelling design that stands out in its segment. Despite being a relatively late entrant to the large SUV market, Seat has managed to create a car that offers both visual appeal and impressive cabin space. Its versatile interior includes a sliding middle row of seats and a generous 700-litre boot (760 litres in five-seat versions), surpassing rivals like the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe.
On the road, the Tarraco is surprisingly agile for its size, feeling more engaging than some competitors, with stable cornering and accurate steering. The ride quality is very good, smoothing out road imperfections. Technology is a strong point, with an 8.0-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital driver display, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While running costs for its petrol and diesel engines aren't stellar, with fuel economy generally below 40mpg and high insurance groups, its strong predicted resale value is a positive. It shares underpinnings with the VW Tiguan Allspace and Skoda Kodiaq, offering a well-equipped package that justifies its price.
Best for: Buyers seeking a stylish and practical large seven-seater SUV, families needing versatile interior space, and those who appreciate good design and a relatively engaging driving experience for a large SUV.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising ultimate fuel economy, those sensitive to higher insurance costs, or those expecting a premium badge like VW.

Consider alternatives if: Ultimate fuel economy is your top priority, you're concerned about higher insurance groups, or you desire a premium badge over Seat's offering.
Competitive Position: The Seat Tarraco (2018-present) successfully carves out its niche in the competitive large SUV market by offering a distinctive, stylish design combined with strong practicality and a solid driving experience. While running costs aren't its strongest suit, its comprehensive standard equipment and impressive predicted resale value make it a compelling alternative to rivals like the Skoda Kodiaq and VW Tiguan Allspace, especially for buyers who value aesthetics and versatility.
Seat Tarraco Review
The Overall CarGurus rating: that informs these recommendations is based on CarGurus' proprietary market data from January 2026, CarGurus expert reviews, and CarGurus user reviews.
4 Overall rating
(1 reviews)Excellent car; love the panoramic roof and the virtual dashboard. The ride is quite hard and the sound from the speakers quite tinny. Having owned a Skoda Kodiaq, before, I had assumed that it would be similar. Instead, it felt a little like the poor relation in terms of interior quality, sound quality, and ride.
