Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Exceptional interior space and practicality | Interior quality feels less premium than the previous model |
| Available in petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid configurations | Ride comfort is compromised at low speeds, especially on larger wheels |
| Competitive pricing for a seven-seater SUV | Plug-in hybrid not available with seven seats |
Quick Summary
The Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) is a highly practical and spacious large family SUV, now in its second generation. It offers a wide range of powertrains including petrol, diesel, and a new plug-in hybrid variant with an electric-only range of around 60 real-world miles. Available with five or seven seats, and with front or all-wheel drive, it caters to diverse family needs, including a sporty vRS model with 261bhp.
Boot space is generous, with five-seater models offering up to 910 litres and seven-seaters providing 340 litres with all seats up, expanding to 845 litres with the third row folded. The interior is well-equipped with a 13-inch infotainment screen and digital driver's display, along with practical features like Smart Dials and ample storage. While generally comfortable, the ride can be firm on larger wheels, though adaptive suspension is an option. Running costs are competitive, with good fuel economy across the range, especially for the diesel and PHEV if regularly charged.
Best for: Large families needing exceptional space and practicality, buyers looking for a versatile SUV with a range of powertrain options (including PHEV), or those seeking a well-equipped seven-seater at a competitive price.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising a premium interior feel over practicality, those who desire a sportier, more engaging driving experience (like a BMW SUV), or those sensitive to a slightly firm ride on larger wheels.

The Verdict
You should buy the Kodiaq if: You're a large family needing exceptional space and practicality, seeking a versatile SUV with diverse powertrain options (including PHEV), or looking for a well-equipped seven-seater at a competitive price.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise a premium interior feel, desire a sportier driving experience, or are sensitive to a slightly firm ride on larger wheels.
Competitive Position: The Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) remains a top contender in the large family SUV segment, offering unparalleled practicality, a wide range of efficient powertrains, and competitive pricing. While it might not match some rivals for outright premium feel or dynamic handling, its comfort, versatility, and extensive standard equipment make it an excellent choice for families, especially those needing a roomy seven-seater or a functional plug-in hybrid.

4.6 Overall rating
(7 reviews)Certainly showing no signs of age other than slightly clunky graphics on the control screen. Great fun to drive.
I dont think theres anything to find fault with. Its a well-thought out car. As a family we do big drives up and down and across the UK. A 12-hour journey is a common occurrence, the key to which is ensuring the teenagers/young adults are comfortable. There are other family SUVs available that would do the job, but frankly having what may be referred to as a premium vehicle does not interest me, the Kodiaq does it all very well and has all the ride quality of a vehicle that is far more expensive. So far, so good.
It is the perfect car for us as we have dogs and horses so a great mix of reliability and it looks good but didnt cost the earth
It is a nice looking car. Personally I think Skoda have started pricing themselves out of the market. For the spec and the price I personally think Volvo offer better second hand prices and better quality. It is an easy car to drive and of similar cars we have been looking at it is by far the biggest boot but I did find that it had a lot of sway when driving which did make me feel a bit Motion sick, I do get sea sick,. Still not sure what way we will go with either an XC60, current favourite but will have to compromise on boot space but spec and quality wise is far better, waiting to test drive a Tarraco and still considering the Tiguan allspace.
I was looking for a kodiaq with heated seats as standard. Some models dont have this feature so you have to shop around Until you find what you are looking for at a sensible price
