Suzuki’s third-generation Grand Vitara, which is offered in three- and five-door form, is a good option for those looking for a dependable small 4x4 with real off-road capability. Diesel and petrol variants are available and even the basic versions come with creature comforts such as climate control. Competitors that have more of an on-road bias will better suit most buyers, though, and no model is particularly frugal.

Great reliability, and a very good family car. Lots of space. Plenty of power from the 2.4L motor and not too thirsty. All in all, a very nice car.
