Vauxhall Viva (2015-2019) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| A very affordable used buy | Many rivals are more practical |
| Easy to drive | So-so warranty offering |
| Decent equipment | Feels bland compared with many cars in the class |
Quick Summary
The Vauxhall Viva (2015-2019) is a five-door city car, launched as a smaller, more affordable alternative to the brand’s Adam and Corsa. Competing with rivals like the Ford Ka+, Hyundai i10, and Kia Picanto, it offered a low new price and a modern design. Despite its diminutive size, it's practical, accommodating four adults and offering 60/40 split-folding rear seats, though its 206-litre boot is smaller than some rivals.
The Viva is easy to drive with light controls and composed handling, though its 1.0-litre engine lacks performance for higher speeds. Running costs are low, with real-world fuel economy around 50mpg and some models offering very low VED. Maintenance is simplified by a timing chain. Entry-level SE models are well-equipped, including cruise control and safety features, with optional air conditioning. As a used car, it represents excellent value, often undercutting rivals for a well-equipped city car suitable for urban use and short journeys.
Best for: Drivers on a budget, those needing a city car purely for around-town work and short trips.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritizing long-distance comfort, those needing more boot space than rivals, or drivers seeking a more engaging or characterful driving experience.

The Verdict
You should buy the Viva if: You're on a budget, seeking a sensible city car for around-town work and short trips.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise long-distance comfort, need more boot space, or desire a more engaging driving experience.
Competitive Position: The Vauxhall Viva (2015-2019) is a highly affordable used city car that offers good equipment levels and low running costs. While it may not match rivals like the Hyundai i10 for overall refinement or long-distance capability, its value proposition makes it a strong contender for budget-conscious buyers seeking a practical and easy-to-drive urban vehicle.

4 Overall rating
(2 reviews)Car was easy to drive but Im used to a Panda so prefer to be higher up. However, decent car in my opinion but not for me.
i bought a 2016 viva in april 2021 and it is a great little car cheap to insure run and tax, £20 a year on the motorway you have to use the gearbox quite a lot to keep the speed up though. one drawback:the radio is crap poor reception and no cd player which is annoying. i had a better radio cd player in my 2006 astra than i have in the viva. overall though i would recommend the viva a sensible purchase if you are looking for a cheap car very pleased with it .thankyou yours sincerely colin
