The car drives better than expected. I was impressed with the performance of the 1.5 diesel engine. It's comfortable and a nice drive. I think some people might miss the cd player but I prefer the radio so it's not a problem to me. In all the car is better than I expected. I would definitely recommend the Renault Kadjar.

Very comfortable, great drive and very spacious. Good milage per gallon and lots of features in the cab. Doesn't have the in cab storage that I was used to but I can get over that. Similar to the Qashqai but in my opinion better.

Renault Kadjar (2015-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Keenly priced as a used car | Dull to drive |
| Spacious and practical interior | Bland interior design |
| Excellent fuel economy | Infotainment system is too fiddly |
Quick Summary
The Renault Kadjar (2015-present) is a spacious and practical family SUV that shares its underpinnings with the Nissan Qashqai. Every model offers a generous 527-litre boot and comfortable seating for five, with well-thought-out storage options throughout. The interior is functional rather than inspiring, with rear seats that split and fold in conventional fashion. Engine options have evolved over time, starting with turbocharged 1.5-litre and 1.6-litre diesels and a 1.2-litre petrol, with a 1.6-litre petrol turbo added in 2017, and a complete overhaul in 2018 introducing 1.3-litre petrol variants.
The Kadjar excels in fuel economy, with efficient diesel versions achieving around 60mpg and petrol models delivering 40-45mpg in real-world driving. Tax costs are particularly attractive for pre-April 2017 models, with some versions costing as little as £20 annually. Servicing is affordable through Renault's fixed-price menu, with minor services at £169 and full services at £269. Most engines feature timing chains, reducing long-term maintenance costs, though the 1.5-litre diesel uses a timing belt requiring replacement every four years or 48,000 miles. As a used car, the Kadjar represents excellent value for budget-conscious buyers prioritising space and practicality over driving engagement.
Best for: Families seeking spacious, practical, and affordable SUVs; budget-conscious buyers; those prioritising fuel economy and low running costs.
Not ideal for: Drivers wanting engaging handling or premium interior quality; those seeking the latest infotainment technology or sophisticated design.

The Verdict
You should buy the Kadjar if: You're seeking a spacious, practical, and affordable family SUV with excellent fuel economy and low running costs, or prioritising value over driving engagement.
Consider alternatives if: You want engaging handling, premium interior quality, or the latest infotainment technology and sophisticated design.
Competitive Position: The Renault Kadjar (2015-present) is a sensible choice in the competitive family SUV market, offering exceptional value and practicality. Whilst it may not match rivals like the Nissan Qashqai or Peugeot 3008 for driving dynamics or interior refinement, its affordability, spacious interior, and impressive fuel economy make it an excellent option for budget-conscious families. The Kadjar's keenly priced used market position and low running costs provide compelling reasons to choose it over more expensive competitors, particularly for those prioritising function over form.
