Back seats fold back completely in the 5 seat version, unlike most similar cars like Lexus, Mercedes, Porsche. More reliable than Range Rover.

Audi Q7 (2015-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Serene ride on air suspension | Strong resale values make used examples expensive |
| Beautifully made and practical interior | Third row not as roomy as a Land Rover Discovery's |
| SQ7 is very fast indeed | Styling looks a bit awkward |
Quick Summary
The Audi Q7 (2015-present) is the second generation of Audi's prestigious seven-seat luxury SUV. Weighing around 240kg less than its predecessor, the Q7 delivers improved ride and handling whilst maintaining surprising fuel economy for a car of its size. The interior is superbly finished with a standard of quality that rivals premium competitors. With three rows of seats, the first two offer excellent space for tall adults, whilst the third row suits shorter journeys. The boot is generous at 780 litres with seats up, expanding to a cavernous 1,908 litres when folded. All middle-row seats slide and recline individually for maximum flexibility.
The 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine is the mainstay, available in 218bhp and 268bhp versions, both delivering impressive performance and pulling power for towing. All models feature quattro four-wheel drive and Audi Drive Select, allowing drivers to choose between efficiency, dynamic, comfort, and individual modes. Optional adaptive air suspension provides a serene low-speed ride, whilst the 2019 facelift introduced mild-hybrid technology for improved economy. The SQ7 offers thrilling performance, though running costs are higher. For a large, luxurious SUV, the Q7 offers relatively affordable running costs and strong resale values.
Best for: Buyers seeking a spacious, luxurious seven-seat SUV with excellent build quality, those prioritising comfort and practicality, and drivers wanting strong resale value and manageable running costs.
Not ideal for: Budget-conscious buyers, those requiring maximum third-row space comparable to a Land Rover Discovery, or those who prefer conventional styling over modern design.

| Land Rover Discovery | 4/5 | N/A | 34.0% | 4.0/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Q7 if: You seek a spacious, luxurious seven-seat SUV with excellent build quality, prioritise comfort and practicality, or want strong resale value and manageable running costs.
Consider alternatives if: You are on a tight budget, require maximum third-row space comparable to a Land Rover Discovery, or prefer conventional styling over modern design.
Competitive Position: The Audi Q7 (2015-present) is an excellent luxury SUV that stands at the top of its class. It matches the BMW X5 for expert rating and overall appeal, whilst offering superior user satisfaction compared to the Land Rover Discovery. The Volvo XC90 edges ahead in user ratings, but the Q7 delivers a more beautifully finished interior and better practicality. With strong resale values, impressive performance, and a serene ride on air suspension, the Q7 represents a compelling choice for those seeking a premium seven-seat SUV. The SQ7 variant offers thrilling performance for those willing to accept higher running costs.
