Back seats fold back completely in the 5 seat version, unlike most similar cars like Lexus, Mercedes, Porsche. More reliable than Range Rover.

Audi Q7 (2015-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Serene ride on air suspension | Strong resale values make used examples expensive |
| Beautifully made and practical interior | Third row not as roomy as a Land Rover Discovery's |
| SQ7 is very fast indeed | Styling looks a bit awkward |
Quick Summary
The Audi Q7 (2015-present) is an excellent luxury SUV that has been refined and improved through updates in 2019. The second-generation model sheds approximately 240kg compared to its predecessor, significantly enhancing ride quality, handling, and fuel economy for such a large vehicle. Inside, the Q7 is superbly finished with a standard of quality that rivals premium competitors, featuring a fully digital cockpit with configurable displays and two stacked infotainment touchscreens. The spacious interior comfortably seats seven, with the first two rows offering generous space for adults and a cavernous 1,908-litre boot when the rear seats are folded.
The Q7 offers impressive performance across its range, with the mainstay 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engines delivering 218bhp or 268bhp, both equipped with quattro four-wheel drive and excellent towing capability. The high-performance SQ7 provides supercar-rivalling acceleration, whilst mild-hybrid technology introduced in 2019 improves fuel economy and emissions. Running costs are reasonable for a vehicle of this size and performance, with the 218bhp diesel achieving around 52.3mpg on the combined cycle. Air suspension is available as an option, providing a serene low-speed ride. The Audi Drive Select system allows drivers to customise steering weight, throttle response, and suspension settings across multiple driving modes.
Best for: Buyers seeking a luxurious, spacious, and well-finished seven-seat SUV with strong performance and excellent practicality, and those prioritising a serene driving experience with advanced technology.
Not ideal for: Budget-conscious buyers, as strong resale values make used examples expensive, or those requiring maximum third-row legroom comparable to a Land Rover Discovery.

The Verdict
You should buy the Q7 if: You seek a luxurious, spacious, and well-finished seven-seat SUV with strong performance, excellent practicality, and a serene driving experience enhanced by advanced technology.
Consider alternatives if: You are budget-conscious, as strong resale values make used examples expensive, or you require maximum third-row legroom comparable to a Land Rover Discovery.
Competitive Position: The Audi Q7 (2015-present) stands as a premium choice in the luxury SUV segment, offering exceptional build quality, a beautifully appointed interior, and impressive performance across its range. Whilst the BMW X5 edges ahead with a marginally higher overall CarGurus rating of 4.6, the Q7 matches it with a 5-star expert rating and delivers superior user satisfaction at 4.7 out of 5. The Volvo XC90 attracts the highest user rating at 4.8, reflecting its Swedish design appeal, whilst the Land Rover Discovery offers greater third-row space and practicality. The Q7 represents the ideal balance of luxury, performance, and refinement for discerning buyers willing to invest in a premium seven-seat SUV.
