This is the Aion UT, an all-new electric hatchback that will be Chinese brand Aion’s second model to reach the UK when it arrives in October 2026. It’s a rival for cars such as the BYD Dolphin and Kia EV3 that aims to stand out from the crowd through its upmarket interior and eight-year warranty cover.
Here’s what we know so far about the 2026 Aion UT.

2026 Aion UT styling and dimensions
Aion says that the UT was designed specifically for the European market. While it might not be as distinctive as rivals such as the Kia EV3 or Renault 5 E-Tech, it has a cute, modern appearance thanks largely to a friendly ‘face’ featuring eye-like ‘owl-inspired’ headlights. They sit above a smiley grille that has ‘ice cube’ lighting units either side of it.
Aion describes the UT as a ‘B-segment supermini’, but it’s larger than cars such as the Renault 5 E-Tech and Volkswagen ID. Polo and in fact has very similar dimensions to the Kia EV3 and Volkswagen ID.3 Neo.
2026 Aion UT interior design and practicality
As with the exterior, the Aion UT’s interior won’t win any awards for originality but it has a clean, contemporary look and appears to back up Aion’s claim that it uses ‘high-quality materials’.
There’s a slim digital driver’s display, while a 14.6-inch central touchscreen is standard. Interior storage looks to be a strength, with a console between the driver and front passenger featuring two lidded compartments and a square cubby (with door) at the base of the dashboard.
Passenger space should be good, too, thanks to a wheelbase (the distance between the front and rear sets of wheels) that’s 85mm (just over three inches) longer than a Nissan Qashqai’s. Boot space is similarly impressive, with a 440-litre capacity to the load cover. That’s 20 litres less than you get in a Kia EV3, but 20 litres more than you get in a Renault 4 E-Tech and 55 litres more than you get in a VW ID.3 Neo. There’s no frunk, however.
2026 Aion UT engines and driving dynamics
The UT is available in a single configuration, which pairs a 60kWh battery with a 201bhp electric motor driving the front wheels. Aion quotes a rather brisk 0-62mph time of 7.3 seconds.
Maximum range is 268 miles – competitive among smaller electric cars, but more than 100 miles less than the longest-range versions of the Kia EV3 or Volkswagen ID.3 Neo. The maximum charging speed is 87kW, giving a 30-80% charge time of 24 minutes in optimum conditions.
While the UT is already on sale in some markets, the version that will be sold here has revised suspension designed to better suit UK roads.

2026 Aion UT price and release date
The Aion UT will be available to order from September 2026, with first deliveries the following month. Pricing hasn’t been confirmed, but we’d expect a starting point of about £26,000.
There’s no price range as such because only a single trim level will be available. It’s an especially well-equipped one, though, with features such as electrically powered and heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a 360° surround-view camera as standard.
An optional Premium pack adds extras such as a panoramic glass roof, electric-folding door mirrors, a ventilated driver’s seat, wireless phone charging, a powered tailgate and interior colour upgrade options.
Along with what’s likely to be very competitive pricing, a big part of the UT’s appeal is likely to be the ‘Aion Great 8 promise’. This unusually generous aftersales package consists of an eight-year warranty, eight years’ free servicing, eight years’ free roadside assistance and free MOTs until the car is eight years old.
