The updated 2026 Volvo XC60 has fresh exterior styling, interior tweaks and Volvo’s latest tech features. The big news, though, comes in the shape of a new battery pack and electric motor that give the range-topping plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version the longest electric-only range of any PHEV currently on sale in the UK.

The new XC60 gets a range of exterior design changes that give the mid-size SUV a similar look to the recently updated XC40 and XC90.
A new grille, re-shaped headlights and bumpers and a redesigned bonnet featuring a straighter leading edge give the XC60 a sharper look at the front. Volvo says the front wings are also new, although to us they look uncannily similar to the old car’s.
New alloy wheel designs are the only changes at the side, but the rear has a much more sculpted, squarer look than before thanks to new tail lights and a redesigned tailgate and bumper.
Volvo hasn’t released details of the new XC60’s dimensions, but any changes will be limited to a minimal difference in length due to the new front and rear bumpers.
Cabin space and boot capacity are unchanged, so the XC60 is still a very practical family car, albeit not as capacious as many of its rivals.
By way of comparison, PHEV versions of the Audi Q5 have a 25.9 kWh battery and an electric range of up to 66 miles, while equivalent BMW X3 models have a 19.7 kWh battery and an electric range of up to 54 miles.
