This is the all-new Hyundai Bayon – a second-generation version of Hyundai’s compact SUV. It’s bigger and bolder than the car it replaces, has more high-tech features and will be available as a full hybrid for the first time.
Here’s what we know so far about the 2027 Hyundai Bayon.

2027 Hyundai Bayon: styling and dimensions
The 2027 Hyundai Bayon is all-new and it has a much tougher, chunkier look than the first-generation Hyundai Bayon introduced in 2021. Where the outgoing car looks like a slightly taller hatchback, the new Bayon looks every inch an SUV. In fact, with its upright stance and muscular bodywork it could be mistaken for a scaled-down version of Hyundai’s bold new Tucson SUV.
As with the latest Tucson, the Bayon’s exterior styling is inspired by Hyundai’s latest ‘Art of Steel’ design language, so there are sharp bodywork creases, slim horizontal lighting elements and an angular look overall. More prominent cladding around the wheel arches and on the lower part of the bumpers emphasises the new Bayon’s more rugged look.
This time around, there’s also an N Line trim. As with other Hyundai models, this gives the Bayon a sportier look, with bespoke interior and exterior styling elements.
The new Bayon is notably larger than the first model. There’s a 65mm (about 2.5-inch) increase in both length and height, as well as a 55mm (about 2-inch) increase in width. The wheelbase has also grown by 20mm (almost an inch). It means the Bayon is now slightly larger in most dimensions than rivals such as the Ford Puma, Renault Captur and Toyota Yaris Cross.

2027 Hyundai Bayon: interior design and practicality
Where the outgoing Bayon’s interior looks rather dour and dated, the new model has a much more modern, appealing look.
A widescreen display takes centre stage, stretching across more than half of the dashboard. In top-spec models this will consist of two 12.3-inch screens – one for the driver display and another for the centre touchscreen. Hyundai has yet to confirm whether entry-level models will have the same set-up, or one with a smaller driver display.
Although the Bayon doesn’t feature the new ‘Pleos’ operating system that’s used in the Ioniq 3 and the new Tucson, it’ll come with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and will be available with high-end features including a Bose premium sound system, a panoramic sunroof and ventilated and heated front seats.
The longer wheelbase and larger size should give increased interior space, while there are reclining rear seats for added comfort. Boot capacity to the load cover is 440 litres – an increase of 29 litres over the outgoing model.

2027 Hyundai Bayon: engines and driving dynamics
Initially, the 2027 Bayon will be available only with petrol power. An updated version of the current car’s 1.0-litre petrol engine is the starting point, offering the same meagre 89bhp output. A 113bhp version will also be available in Europe, but Hyundai hasn’t confirmed whether it will reach the UK.
A new self-charging hybrid version will join the range later. It combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor to give 136bhp, a much faster 0-60mph time and improved fuel economy and emissions. All versions are front-wheel-drive only; the petrol models will be available with a manual or dual-clutch automatic gearbox while the hybrid is auto-only.

2027 Hyundai Bayon: price and release date
The new Hyundai Bayon is due on sale in the UK in early 2027.
Prices haven’t been confirmed, but a starting point of about £26,000 looks likely since the current car starts at about £25,000 and the larger Kona SUV starts at just over £27,000.
