This is the 2027 Nissan Pixo, an all-new electric city car that could have a starting price of about £17,000. It’s closely related to the new Renault Twingo and is due to arrive in UK showrooms in early 2027.

2027 Nissan Pixo styling and dimensions
If the new Nissan Pixo looks familiar it’s because it shares its basic shape and many exterior panels with the Renault Twingo E-Tech. It’s a similar relationship to that of the latest Nissan Micra and the Renault 5 E-Tech – the two cars are essentially the same, but have some minor technical differences and different exterior styling.
In the case of the Pixo, it certainly has a look all of its own and bears little resemblance to its French counterpart. The marketing blurb talks about ‘cube-inspired proportions’ and ‘pixel-inspired lighting’ and the Pixo delivers both, with a bluff, square front end that’s a sharp contrast to the Twingo’s cute, rounded ‘face’.
While the doors, roof, windows and rear wings are shared with the Twingo, the Pixo has bespoke alloy wheel designs – complete with ‘pixel’ details – and a different tailgate and bumper at the rear.
It has very different tail lights to the Twingo, too – these have an almost square shape and diagonal lighting signatures that mirror the headlights. Nissan says the Pixo will offer a ‘contemporary colour palette’ including the ‘Wonder Purple’ in our images.
As you’d expect, the Pixo’s dimensions are all-but identical to those of the Twingo. Both cars are about 3.8 metres long and are a similar size to petrol-powered city cars such as the Kia Picanto.

While the Pixo and Twingo look quite different on the outside, their interiors are almost identical. Most elements are shared, but the Pixo has a more angular design for the upper section of the dashboard and, of course, a different logo in the centre of the steering wheel.
Cabin and boot space in the Pixo will be a close match for the Twingo’s, too, which in our experience of driving the Twingo is a good thing. As well as decent space up front, there’s a rear seat that you can slide back and forth – push it all the way back and rear legroom is pretty good.
Nissan quotes a maximum boot capacity of 356 litres with the seat pushed all the way forwards – that’s almost as much as you get in a VW Golf. Nissan doesn’t quote a boot capacity with the seat at its rearmost position, but it’s likely to be very close to what you get in the Twingo so should be somewhere in the region of 260 litres. Nissan says there’s a total of 18 litres of in-cabin storage space, but there’s no frunk.
2027 Nissan Pixo engines and driving dynamics
The Pixo uses the same electric powertrain as the Twingo, so it’s a long way from being either quick or powerful. There’s a teeny 27.5 kWh battery, while the electric motor maxes out at just 80bhp. The Pixo’s 0-60mph time is likely to be much the same as the Twingo’s tardy 12.1 seconds, although we found that the Renault feels perfectly responsive when pulling away from a standstill.
What’s likely to be more important to many Pixo buyers is a turning circle of just 9.9 metres – small enough to make swinging in and out of the tiniest parking spaces a breeze.
2027 Nissan Pixo price and release date
Prices for the 2027 Nissan Pixo haven’t been announced, but we’d expect them to be more or less the same as – perhaps even lower than – those of the Renault Twingo. As of September 2026 those hadn’t been confirmed, but Renault has said that the starting point will be less than £20,000.
The Pixo and Twingo could also be eligible for the full £3,750 of the government’s Electric Car Grant, which would bring the entry point down to less than £17,000.
