This is the Jeep Recon, an all-new electric SUV from the American brand. It’s a proper off-roader that aims to take the ethos of the legendary Jeep Wrangler into the electric era and is likely to have a starting price of about £70,000 when it goes on sale in the UK in late 2026.
Here’s what we know so far about the 2026 Jeep Recon.

2026 Jeep Recon: styling and dimensions
There are no surprises with the styling of the Jeep Recon. It’s a mixture of traditional and modern Jeep elements, with a boxy profile and lots of rugged details. Previewed by a concept car back in 2022, little has changed for the production version.
At the front there’s a modern-day interpretation of Jeep's traditional seven-slot grille, with flush panels featuring illuminated surrounds. Rectangular headlights, a chunky front bumper insert and pronounced wheelarches with tough-looking cladding give it a classic 4x4 look that’s not entirely dissimilar to that of the latest Land Rover Defender and Toyota Land Cruiser.
The side profile has definite Defender vibes, enhanced by a gloss-black finish for the window pillars and (as an option) the roof. The rear tailgate is a side-hinged door like that of the Jeep Wrangler, and there are cube-like, Wrangler-inspired tail lights. US models have a dual-pane sunroof as standard, and are available with removable side doors and rear windows for ‘open-air freedom in minutes’.
2026 Jeep Recon: interior design and practicality
As with the exterior, the interior of the Jeep Recon is a mix of functional and high-tech elements. A 14.5-inch centre touchscreen (the largest ever offered in a Jeep) and a 12.3-inch driver display look suitably of-the-moment, but there are also physical controls for some functions, including the various off-road settings.
Jeep describes the cabin as ‘purpose-built for adventure’ thanks to features such as grab handles, scuff-resistant materials and a range of storage areas and accessories. Boot capacity is listed as 858 litres, although it’s unclear whether this is to the roof or the load cover. Either way, the Recon is a five-seater only and is unlikely to be short of load space.
2026 Jeep Recon: engines and driving dynamics
Power for the Jeep Recon comes from two electric motors, with one for the front axle and one for the rear giving four-wheel drive and a total of 641bhp and 620 lb/ft of torque. Despite the Recon’s bluff shape and a weight of more than 2.7 tonnes it’s seriously quick, with a 0-60mph time of just 3.7 seconds.
As well as standard four-wheel drive, the Recon has Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system that allows you to tailor its responses to different on-road or off-road surfaces. The ground clearance and departure angles are what you’d expect of a ‘proper’ Jeep, and should give it the kind of off-road prowess that the brand’s most rugged models are famous for.
Maximum battery range is estimated to be about 250 miles, while Jeep quotes a 5-80% charge time of 28 minutes for US models using a DC rapid charger.
2026 Jeep Recon: price and release date
The Jeep Recon is on sale now in the US, with prices starting at $65,000. That translates to about £49,000, but UK prices are likely to kick off at around £70,000 when the Recon goes on sale in late 2026.
