The BMW 1 Series 116d M Sport is an engine and trim combination found on each of the three generations of BMW's 1 Series hatchback. M Sport is the most popular trim choice with customers due to its sporty styling, and the 116d engine is a modestly powered and relatively affordable diesel option. The Mk1 116d M Sport was powered by a detuned 114bhp version of the same 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine found in the more powerful 118d, 120d and 123d, while in the Mk2 116d, the engine was swapped for a four-cylinder 1.6, and then a three-cylinder 1.5 in 2015.
