Car is a proper driving car, great handling and plenty space for a mid size SUV. Can’t think of any faults apart from a lack of dealership’s if something went wrong.

Its a very desirable car, but misses out on certain tech, such as HUD, Blind Spot alerts & also very confusing model variants. Im not sure if lack of touch screen on infotainment is good or not though. Personal choice, I guess.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio (2017-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Exciting to drive, especially the Quadrifoglio | Cramped in the back |
| Good looks | Brittle ride |
| High quality cabin | Thirsty petrol engines |
Quick Summary
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio (2017-present) is a mid-sized SUV that successfully combines Italian design flair with engaging driving dynamics. Unlike many rivals that prioritise utility over sportiness, the Stelvio delivers a sharp, responsive driving experience with impressive handling balance. The exterior features sleek lines and a purposeful stance, whilst the interior showcases high-quality materials including aluminium and wood with tactile finishes. An 8.8-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto comes standard across the range, alongside DAB radio, Bluetooth, and an eight-speaker audio system.
However, the Stelvio's sporting credentials come with trade-offs. The sloping roofline restricts rear headroom and legroom, making it less practical than rivals like the Land Rover Discovery Sport or Volvo XC60. The firm suspension, whilst enhancing cornering ability, can make longer journeys wearing. Boot capacity of 525 litres (1,600 litres with seats folded) is adequate for family use. Engine options include turbocharged petrol units (197bhp or 276bhp) and diesel variants (187bhp or 207bhp), with the range-topping Quadrifoglio offering a thrilling 503bhp twin-turbocharged V6. Fuel economy is modest, particularly with petrol engines, and running costs are substantial due to high CO2 emissions and VED charges.
Best for: Enthusiastic drivers seeking an SUV with genuine sporting credentials, those prioritising design and cabin quality, and buyers willing to accept compromises on practicality for driving engagement.
Not ideal for: Families needing maximum rear legroom or boot space, drivers prioritising fuel economy and low running costs, or those concerned about Alfa Romeo's reliability reputation.
Comparison vs Key Rivals

| Alfa Romeo Stelvio | 3/5 | 4.0/5 | 33.8% | 4.0/5 |

The Verdict
You should buy the Stelvio if: You're an enthusiastic driver seeking an SUV with genuine sporting credentials, prioritise design and cabin quality, and are willing to accept compromises on practicality for driving engagement.
Consider alternatives if: You need maximum rear legroom or boot space, prioritise fuel economy and low running costs, or have concerns about Alfa Romeo's reliability reputation.
Competitive Position: The Alfa Romeo Stelvio occupies a unique position in the mid-sized SUV market, offering distinctive Italian design and engaging driving dynamics that few rivals can match. Whilst the BMW X3 and Land Rover Discovery Sport offer superior practicality and reliability credentials, and the Audi Q5 provides more refined German engineering, the Stelvio rewards enthusiastic drivers with a more involving experience. Its firm ride and cramped rear quarters are genuine drawbacks, but for those prioritising character and driving enjoyment over outright practicality, the Stelvio's combination of style, quality, and performance delivers compelling appeal. The range-topping Quadrifoglio variant offers supercar-baiting thrills at a fraction of the cost.
