Audi Q3 (2025-present) Pros and Cons

Pros	Cons
Impressive touchscreen system	Small boot in PHEV model
Generous standard equipment	A BMW X1 is more fun to drive
Impressive EV range from plug-in hybrid version	Doesn't significantly move the game on from its predecessor

Quick Summary

The Audi Q3 (2025-present) is a posh compact family SUV that competes well against rivals like the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Lexus NX. It offers a comprehensive engine range starting with a 148bhp turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol, progressing to 2.0-litre turbocharged petrols with 201 or 261bhp, a 148bhp 2.0 TDI diesel, and a plug-in hybrid variant with up to 73 miles of electric range. The Q3 delivers 488–575 litres of boot space with sliding rear seats, competent handling, and impressive standard equipment including LED lights, heated seats, three-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree parking camera.

The Q3 is perfectly recommendable for those seeking a premium compact SUV with a wide engine choice and practical interior. However, it fails to wow in any particular area, and rivals from less premium brands offer similar virtues for less money. The plug-in hybrid variant provides excellent company car tax benefits with its lengthy electric range, whilst the more powerful 2.0 TFSI quattro delivers noticeably better driving dynamics. Note that only the entry-level 1.5 TFSI Sport trim comes in under £40,000, meaning most Q3s incur the expensive car VED supplement. There is no fully electric Q3; for that, consider the Audi Q4 e-tron instead.

Best for: Buyers seeking premium brand appeal, a wide engine choice including diesel and plug-in hybrid options, generous standard equipment, and a competent all-rounder compact SUV.

Not ideal for: Those prioritising driving dynamics over brand prestige, requiring maximum boot space, or seeking the best value in the compact SUV segment.

Comparison vs Key Rivals

The Verdict

You should buy the Q3 if: You value premium brand appeal, seek a wide engine choice including diesel and plug-in hybrid options, want generous standard equipment, and desire a competent all-rounder compact SUV.

Consider alternatives if: You prioritise driving dynamics over brand prestige, require maximum boot space, or seek the best value in the compact SUV segment.

Competitive Position: The Audi Q3 (2025-present) is a solid contender in the premium compact SUV market, offering impressive standard equipment, a comprehensive engine range, and a practical interior. Whilst the BMW X1 delivers superior driving dynamics and the Mercedes-Benz GLA offers premium appeal, the Q3 strikes a reasonable balance between practicality and prestige. However, less premium rivals like the Volkswagen Tiguan provide similar virtues at lower cost. The Q3's plug-in hybrid variant stands out for company car tax benefits, making it an attractive option for business users. Overall, the Q3 is a competent choice for those prioritising brand image and equipment over outright value or driving excitement.
