Audi Q5 (2025-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Sharp styling | Expensive to buy |
| Practical interior with lots of space | Complex infotainment system |
| Polished driving experience | Average warranty coverage |
Quick Summary
The Audi Q5 (2025-present) is a third-generation premium family SUV, renowned for its upmarket image, smart styling, and practicality. Available as a standard five-seater SUV or a coupe-like Sportback, it does not offer a seven-seater or fully electric variant. Power comes from 2.0-litre TFSI petrol or 2.0-litre TDI diesel engines, both with 201bhp and 48-volt mild hybrid systems, alongside an e-hybrid plug-in hybrid offering a 60-mile electric range. Its rivals include the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Volvo XC60.
With a longer wheelbase, the Q5 provides an even more spacious interior, featuring reclining rear seats and a sliding mechanism on S line models and above for flexible boot space (520 litres, or 515 for Sportback). The driving experience is polished and satisfying, particularly with optional air suspension, ensuring a comfortable and well-controlled ride. While the interior tech is slick, the infotainment system can be complex to navigate. Running costs are initially high due to purchase price and luxury car tax, but it maintains strong residual values, and fuel economy is respectable for its class, with the e-hybrid offering very low running costs for those who can charge at home.
Best for: Drivers seeking a premium, practical, and stylish family SUV, those who value a refined driving experience, and buyers looking for an efficient plug-in hybrid option.
Not ideal for: Buyers on a tight budget, those who prefer simpler, less distracting interior technology, or who need a seven-seater SUV or a fully electric model.

The Verdict
You should buy the Q5 if: You're seeking a premium, practical, and stylish family SUV with a refined driving experience, or an efficient plug-in hybrid option.
Consider alternatives if: You're on a tight budget, prefer simpler interior technology, or require a seven-seater SUV or a fully electric model.
Competitive Position: The Audi Q5 (2025-present) remains a strong contender in the premium SUV segment, offering a predictable but excellent blend of style, practicality, and a polished driving experience. While it faces competition from newer, potentially cheaper Chinese-built SUVs and established rivals like the BMW X3 and Volvo XC60, its strong residual values and overall refinement ensure it remains a highly desirable, albeit expensive, choice for discerning buyers.

4.3 Overall rating
(20 reviews)This is the car that i wanted it drives very well and looks good on the road
Overall the car is fantastic. Very smooth and quiet drive with the confidence of All Wheel Drive and steep decent assist. The only reason I drop to 4 stars is due to a lack of gadgets and sat nav but some might see that as a benefit as its a straight forward driver.
Fantastic car, great drive, bags of space and comfortable.
The car is exactly what I expected and it was good value for money. I would compare it Jaguar F type, BMW X 3 or the Landrover Discovery Sport or at least these were the SUVs I was looking at.
Already have a Q5 it’s a beautiful drive & has the kind of features that for me makes it an affordable (just) luxury car.
