The BMW 2 Series Coupe is one of the last compact two-door cars that still puts driving enjoyment first. It’s rear-wheel drive (or has rear-biased all-wheel drive in the M240i) and feels genuinely sporty from behind the wheel. It’s also more practical than most coupes, thanks to decent rear-seat space and a large boot. The four-cylinder versions make sense as enjoyable daily-drivers, while the M240i and M2 (the latter reviewed separately) cater to buyers who want serious performance. The 2 Series Coupe isn’t cheap, nor is it especially practical compared with four-door alternatives. The move to a fully digital interior also won’t suit everyone. However, if you want a compact coupe that feels like a BMW should, it remains a very tempting proposition.
