The BMW 5 Series has built up a reputation as a deeply satisfying all-rounder with a sporting streak, and this seventh-generation version is as smooth, suave and sophisticated as you'd hope. It's best served in a simpler specification, though, in which smaller wheels and less weight keep the ride comfort and handling as sweet as they can be.
