The first BMW M4 was a controversial car when it arrived in 2014 and it remains so today. You’ll have to overlook a number of unusual handling traits and a turbocharged engine that lacks character, but there’s no questioning the M4’s performance, looks or ability to quicken the pulse. With decent rear seats, a very sizeable boot, a high-quality cabin, and a first-rate infotainment system, the M4 is easy to live with as well as exciting to drive.
