Citroën C3 (2025) Pros and Cons

Pros	Cons
Cool styling inside and out	Entry-level engine not great on pace or refinement
Comfy ride	Some ergonomic frustrations
Relatively affordable	Bare-minimum warranty arrangement

Quick Summary

The Citroën C3 (2025) is a stylish and cheerful budget supermini that trades traditional hatchback design for a raised SUV-like stance. Despite its compact footprint of just over four metres, it offers surprising interior space with comfortable seating for four and a 310-litre boot. The car prioritises affordability and practicality, making it one of the most accessible new cars on the UK market. Standard equipment is generous for the price, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Two petrol powertrains are available: a turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder with 98bhp paired to a six-speed manual, and a hybrid version with 108bhp and automatic transmission. The entry-level engine is revvy and noisy but adequate, whilst the hybrid offers better refinement and smoother operation. Both deliver respectable fuel economy, with official figures of 52.0mpg and 59.2mpg respectively. The standout feature is the Advanced Comfort Suspension, which delivers an impressively plush and cosseting ride. However, the square steering wheel and occasionally confusing infotainment system are notable frustrations.

Best for: Budget-conscious buyers seeking stylish, comfortable, and practical transport; those prioritising ride comfort and low running costs; first-time car buyers and city drivers.

Not ideal for: Drivers seeking performance, refinement, or premium interior materials; those requiring maximum boot space or easy rear-seat access; buyers wanting intuitive infotainment systems.

Comparison vs Key Rivals

The Verdict

You should buy the C3 if: You're budget-conscious and seeking stylish, comfortable, and practical transport; you prioritise ride comfort and low running costs; or you're a first-time buyer or city driver.

Consider alternatives if: You require performance, premium interior materials, maximum boot space, or an intuitive infotainment system.

Competitive Position: The Citroën C3 (2025) is a compelling choice in the budget supermini segment, offering excellent value, distinctive styling, and impressive comfort. Whilst it lacks the performance credentials of some rivals and the infotainment system has its quirks, the C3's affordability, low running costs, and genuinely comfortable ride make it highly appealing for budget-conscious buyers. It edges ahead of the Dacia Sandero through superior refinement and interior quality, whilst offering better value than the Peugeot 208. The Volvo V40, though more premium, commands a higher price point and is less accessible for budget buyers.
