had the aircross C3 for 3 years and loved it. But needed something a touch smaller and cheaper, so went for the C3 hatchback. Much the same car. Looks the part, reliable and i hope to get 5/8 years out of it. Dont see why not. Nice drive as well.

Citroen C3 (2025) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Cool styling inside and out | Entry-level engine not great on pace or refinement |
| Comfy ride | Some ergonomic frustrations |
| Relatively affordable | Bare-minimum warranty arrangement |
Quick Summary
The Citroen C3 (2025) is a stylish and affordable entry-level supermini that trades the traditional hatchback design for a raised SUV-like stance. Despite its compact footprint of just over four metres, it offers surprising interior space with comfortable seating for four adults and a 310-litre boot. The cheerful interior design, featuring textured plastics and a fabric dashboard strip, creates an engaging atmosphere. Available with either a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine (98bhp) or a hybrid variant (108bhp), the C3 prioritises comfort and practicality over outright performance.
The C3 delivers impressive comfort through its Advanced Comfort Suspension with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions, making it ideal for daily driving. Running costs are low, with the non-hybrid achieving up to 52.0mpg and the hybrid reaching 59.2mpg. Standard equipment is generous for the price, including automatic LED headlights, cruise control, and rear parking sensors on the Plus trim, with the Max adding heated seats and a reversing camera. However, the entry-level engine is noisy and underpowered, the infotainment system is frustratingly complex, and the unconventional square steering wheel presents ergonomic challenges. Narrow rear door openings also make rear-seat access awkward.
Best for: Budget-conscious buyers seeking a stylish, comfortable, and practical small car with low running costs, and those prioritising comfort over performance.
Not ideal for: Drivers requiring strong performance, refined engines, or intuitive infotainment systems, and those needing easy rear-seat access.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Citroen C3 | 4/5 | 4.9/5 | 35.4% | 4.4/5 |
| Dacia Sandero | 3/5 | 4.8/5 | 33.8% | 4.1/5 |
| Peugeot 208 | 4/5 | 5.0/5 | 30.0% | 4.5/5 |
| Volvo V40 | 3/5 | 4.5/5 | 33.9% | 4.2/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the C3 if: You're seeking a stylish, comfortable, and practical small car with low running costs and generous standard equipment at an affordable price.
Consider alternatives if: You require strong performance, refined engines, intuitive infotainment systems, or easy rear-seat access.
Competitive Position: The Citroen C3 (2025) is a compelling choice in the budget supermini segment, offering excellent value, striking styling, and genuine comfort. Whilst it lacks the performance of rivals like the Peugeot 208 and the refinement of premium competitors, its affordability, low running costs, and spacious interior make it an excellent option for budget-conscious buyers. The hybrid powertrain provides a more relaxed driving experience, though the entry-level petrol engine requires acceptance of its limitations. Overall, the C3 represents a sensible, likeable, and capable choice for everyday driving.
