had the aircross C3 for 3 years and loved it. But needed something a touch smaller and cheaper, so went for the C3 hatchback. Much the same car. Looks the part, reliable and i hope to get 5/8 years out of it. Dont see why not. Nice drive as well.

Citroen C3 (2025) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Cool styling inside and out | Entry-level engine not great on pace or refinement |
| Comfy ride | Some ergonomic frustrations |
| Relatively affordable | Bare-minimum warranty arrangement |
Quick Summary
The Citroen C3 (2025) is a stylish and affordable entry-level supermini that trades traditional hatchback design for a raised SUV-like stance. Despite its compact footprint of just over four metres, it offers surprising interior space with decent headroom and legroom for rear passengers. The cheerful interior design, featuring textured plastics and a fabric dashboard strip, creates an engaging environment. Practicality is reasonable with 310 litres of boot space, expandable to 1,188 litres with the 60/40 split rear seats, though the high load lip and narrow rear door openings present minor inconveniences.
Two petrol powertrains are available: a 98bhp turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder with manual transmission, and a 108bhp hybrid version with automatic transmission. The entry-level engine is revvy and eager but noisy and underpowered, whilst the hybrid offers a more relaxed, refined experience. Both deliver reasonable fuel economy at 52.0mpg and 59.2mpg respectively. The C3's standout feature is its impressive comfort, courtesy of Advanced Comfort Suspension with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions, delivering a plush and cosseting ride. Running costs are low, with insurance group 24 and a flat VED rate of £195 annually. The infotainment system, whilst simple, has some usability quirks, and the square steering wheel is an unnecessary design oddity.
Best for: Budget-conscious buyers seeking stylish, affordable transport with a comfortable ride, and those prioritising practicality and low running costs over performance.
Not ideal for: Drivers requiring strong performance, premium refinement, or those who value intuitive infotainment systems and conventional steering wheel design.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Citroen C3 | 4/5 | 4.9/5 | 39.8% | 4.4/5 |
| Peugeot 208 | 3/5 | 5.0/5 | 44.1% | 4.3/5 |
| Dacia Sandero | 3/5 | 4.8/5 | 34.1% | 4.1/5 |
| Volvo V40 | 3/5 | 4.6/5 | 39.2% | 4.3/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the C3 if: You're budget-conscious and seeking stylish, affordable transport with a comfortable ride, or prioritising practicality and low running costs over performance.
Consider alternatives if: You require strong performance, premium refinement, or value intuitive infotainment systems and conventional steering wheel design.
Competitive Position: The Citroen C3 (2025) is a compelling choice in the affordable supermini segment, offering distinctive styling, genuine comfort, and excellent value. Whilst the Peugeot 208 achieves higher user ratings and better value scores, the C3 matches it on expert rating and offers a more distinctive character. The Dacia Sandero undercuts on price but lacks the C3's style and refinement, whilst the Volvo V40 targets a different market segment. The C3's combination of affordability, comfort, and cheerful design makes it an excellent entry point into motoring for budget-conscious buyers who don't prioritise performance.
