Citroën Grand C4 Picasso (2013-2020) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Brilliant cabin, with space for seven and lots of clever features | Not as fun to drive as a Ford S-Max |
| Soft suspension delivers a comfortable ride | Steering is overly light and remote |
| Good looking for an MPV | Some owners report electrical faults |
Quick Summary
The Citroën Grand C4 Picasso (2013-2020) is an exceptionally practical seven-seater MPV that prioritises family comfort and versatility. The second-generation model, which received a facelift in 2016 and was renamed the SpaceTourer in 2018, boasts a spacious, intelligently designed interior with a panoramic windscreen, super-skinny pillars for excellent visibility, and a clever three-seat middle row that slides, reclines, and folds individually. The third-row seats stow neatly in the boot floor, and even with all seven seats deployed, there's still usable boot space. A flat floor throughout and abundant cabin storage make this an exceptionally versatile family companion.
The ride quality is supremely comfortable, with soft suspension that absorbs road imperfections admirably, whilst wind and road noise are well suppressed. Engine options include a smooth, flexible 1.6-litre BlueHDi 100 diesel (road tax exempt if registered before April 2017), a turbocharged 1.2-litre PureTech petrol, and a 2.0 BlueHDi 150 diesel. Real-world fuel economy ranges from 40-60mpg depending on driving conditions and engine choice. Running costs are reasonable, with fixed-price servicing available from £175 for an interim service and MOT. Handling is not a priority, with light steering and noticeable body roll on undulating roads, but this is entirely appropriate for a family hauler.
Best for: Families needing seven seats, those prioritising comfort and practicality over driving dynamics, and buyers seeking excellent interior space and clever design features.
Not ideal for: Drivers seeking engaging handling or spirited performance, those who prefer more responsive steering, or buyers concerned about potential electrical issues.

The Verdict
You should buy the Grand C4 Picasso if: You need seven seats, prioritise comfort and practicality over driving dynamics, and value clever interior design and excellent space for family life.
Consider alternatives if: You seek engaging handling and responsive steering, prefer a more fun driving experience, or are concerned about potential electrical issues.
Competitive Position: The Citroën Grand C4 Picasso (2013-2020) is an excellent choice in the seven-seater MPV segment, offering outstanding practicality, comfort, and clever design at a competitive price. Whilst the Seat Alhambra edges ahead on expert and user ratings, and the Ford S-Max provides more engaging driving dynamics, the Grand C4 Picasso delivers superior value with the highest percentage of good and great deals available. Its soft suspension, spacious interior, and intelligent seating system make it ideal for families prioritising comfort and versatility. The Renault Grand Scenic is a worthy alternative, though the Citroën's superior cabin design and seven-seat flexibility give it a clear advantage for larger families.

4.9 Overall rating
(10 reviews)Customers say
The Citroen Grand C4 Picasso is well-regarded for its spacious interior and economical performance, making it an excellent option for larger families. Owners particularly appreciate features like the media system and the reverse parking camera, which enhance driving convenience. However, some drivers have noted that the boot space is smaller than expected, which can be limiting when traveling with a lot of luggage. Overall, it's praised for comfort and practical design, but the limited boot space is a common concern.

Absolutly great car for so many uses, i use it for camoing trios carries everything needed for a complete weekend away, also good for doing booties as all seats drop flat so its almost better than a van but more comfortable. So a versatile allrounder
