Good size for a family as it has very flexible seating arrangement, is economical yet lively engine, is easy to drive, and has a huge front windscreen with plenty of visibility. A family winner with value for money.

This is my second’grand Picasso’ now called a spacecruiser. The only reason the old one had to go was the erg valve had stuck open and the adblue pump and tank needed replacing. £2,400 plus! If you have an adblue diesel please use additive in the tank and a diesel additive! This spacecruiser, petrol, is wonderful. So very comfortable and easy to drive, seven seats if needed and a totally flat load carrying space if the seats are put flat!

Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer (2018-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Lots of space | Not great to drive |
| Very versatile seats | Patchy reliability record |
| Smart interior | Ride can be unsettled |
Quick Summary
The Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer is a seven-seat MPV offering exceptional practicality and versatility for large families. With a wide range of seating configurations, the middle row features three individual seats that fold, slide, and recline, whilst the rear row has two additional seats that fold into the floor. Boot space ranges from 632 litres to an impressive 2,181 litres with all rear seats folded, making it one of the most practical family cars available. The front passenger seat also folds flat to accommodate longer loads.
Available with a choice of 1.2-litre PureTech 130 petrol or 1.5-litre BlueHDi 130 diesel engines, both producing 129bhp, the Grand C4 SpaceTourer prioritises comfort over driving dynamics. The diesel variant achieves 50-55mpg in real-world use, whilst the petrol manages around 40mpg. Whilst the ride is generally comfortable, the soft suspension can feel unsettled on poor road surfaces. The touchscreen infotainment system is dated and frustratingly sluggish, with most functions accessed through its menus. Both engines use rubber timing belts requiring replacement at significant cost, and the reliability record is disappointing compared to rivals.
Best for: Large families needing maximum space and seating flexibility, those prioritising practicality and versatility, and buyers seeking a comfortable, airy interior for passenger comfort.
Not ideal for: Drivers seeking engaging handling or dynamic performance, those concerned about reliability, or buyers wanting modern technology and LED headlights as standard.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer | 3/5 | 5.0/5 | 31.8% | 4.1/5 |

| Vauxhall Zafira Tourer | 4/5 | 4.2/5 | 31.6% | 4.2/5 |
| Ford S-Max | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 31.2% | 4.4/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Grand C4 SpaceTourer if: You're a large family needing maximum space and seating flexibility, prioritising practicality and versatility, or seeking a comfortable, airy interior for passenger comfort.
Consider alternatives if: You value engaging handling and dynamic performance, are concerned about reliability, or require modern technology and LED headlights as standard.
Competitive Position: The Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer excels in practicality and space, offering exceptional versatility for families. However, its disappointing reliability record and uninspiring driving dynamics place it behind more dependable rivals like the Volkswagen Touran and Ford S-Max, which offer superior build quality and performance. The Vauxhall Zafira Tourer provides a comparable alternative at a similar price point. For buyers prioritising reliability and driving engagement, the Touran or S-Max are stronger choices, though the Grand C4 SpaceTourer remains an excellent option for those focused solely on space and affordability.
