This is my second’grand Picasso’ now called a spacecruiser. The only reason the old one had to go was the erg valve had stuck open and the adblue pump and tank needed replacing. £2,400 plus! If you have an adblue diesel please use additive in the tank and a diesel additive! This spacecruiser, petrol, is wonderful. So very comfortable and easy to drive, seven seats if needed and a totally flat load carrying space if the seats are put flat!

Good size for a family as it has very flexible seating arrangement, is economical yet lively engine, is easy to drive, and has a huge front windscreen with plenty of visibility. A family winner with value for money.

Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer (2018-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Lots of space | Not great to drive |
| Very versatile seats | Patchy reliability record |
| Smart interior | Ride can be unsettled |
Quick Summary
The Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer is a seven-seat MPV designed for large families seeking maximum versatility and practicality. With configurable seating arrangements, a wide range of boot space options (632 to 2,181 litres), and a well-equipped interior, it offers exceptional family-friendly features. The front passenger seat folds flat for longer loads, whilst the three individual middle-row seats fold, slide, and recline independently with Isofix points. Two rear seats can be folded individually into the floor, making it one of the most practical family cars available.
Powered by either a 1.2-litre PureTech 130 petrol or 1.5-litre BlueHDi 130 diesel engine, both producing 129bhp, the Grand C4 SpaceTourer prioritises comfort over driving dynamics. The soft suspension delivers a comfortable ride, though it can feel unsettled on poor road surfaces. Fuel economy ranges from around 40mpg with the petrol to 50-55mpg with the diesel. However, the dated touchscreen interface and patchy reliability record are notable drawbacks. Servicing costs are moderate, though timing belt replacements (required every five years for diesel, six for petrol) are expensive at over £500.
Best for: Large families needing maximum space and versatility, those prioritising practicality over driving dynamics, and buyers seeking a comfortable seven-seater for everyday use.
Not ideal for: Drivers seeking engaging handling, those concerned about reliability, or buyers wanting the latest technology and LED headlights.

The Verdict
You should buy the Grand C4 SpaceTourer if: You're a large family needing maximum space and versatility, prioritising practicality over driving dynamics, or seeking a comfortable seven-seater for everyday use.
Consider alternatives if: You value engaging handling, require proven reliability, or want the latest technology and modern features like LED headlights.
Competitive Position: The Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer is a strong contender in the seven-seat MPV market, offering exceptional practicality and versatility with impressive boot space configurations. Whilst it trails rivals like the Volkswagen Touran and Ford S-Max for driving dynamics and reliability, its superior user ratings (5.0/5) and excellent value proposition make it an attractive choice for budget-conscious families. The Vauxhall Zafira Tourer offers a comparable alternative, though the Grand C4 SpaceTourer's more modern design and smarter interior provide an edge. For those prioritising reliability and handling, the Ford S-Max remains a strong alternative despite higher pricing.
