Fiat 500 Hybrid (2025-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Comfortable ride | Awkward pedal position |
| Feels special throughout | Cramped in the back |
| Easy to drive | Engine runs out of puff quickly |
Quick Summary
The Fiat 500 Hybrid is a unique proposition, created by adapting the all-electric 500's body to house a mild-hybrid petrol engine. It is aimed squarely at style-conscious buyers, prioritising its chic design and character over outright practicality. This focus is evident in its tiny 183-litre boot and extremely limited rear passenger space, with difficult access through the three-door-only body style, making it a poor choice for those needing to carry passengers or luggage regularly.
The driving experience is cheerful and fun, especially around town where its 64bhp 1.0-litre engine feels nippy and willing. A key strength is its surprisingly comfortable and sophisticated ride for such a small car. However, it struggles for power on faster roads and motorways. Running costs are also a weak point; its real-world fuel economy is bettered by some larger rivals, and its purchase price is relatively high for the city car class, positioning it as a premium, style-led choice.
Best for: Style-focused city drivers and young professionals looking for a fun, characterful car for urban trips who don't need much space.
Not ideal for: Families, drivers who need to carry luggage or rear passengers, anyone doing regular motorway journeys, or budget-conscious buyers seeking maximum value.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fiat 500 | 3/5 | 4.8/5 | 34.8% | 4.2/5 |
| Renault Clio | 4/5 | 4.3/5 | 31.5% | 4.4/5 |
| Hyundai i10 | 5/5 | 4.7/5 | 26.7% | 4.5/5 |
| Toyota Aygo X | 3/5 | 0.0/5 | 34.2% | 3.9/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the 500 if: You prioritise style, character, and in-town driving enjoyment above all else, and you're happy to trade practicality for personality.
Consider alternatives if: You need a practical car for passengers and luggage, frequently drive on motorways, or are looking for the lowest running costs and best value in the city car segment.
Competitive Position: The Fiat 500 Hybrid carves a niche for itself as a fashion-forward city car. While it can't match the practicality of a Hyundai i10 or the all-round capability of a Renault Clio, it offers unparalleled style and charm. Its appeal lies in its fun-to-drive nature and premium feel, making it a desirable choice for buyers who see their car as a style statement rather than just a tool.

(33 reviews)I LOVE the Fiat 500, Im on my fourth, soon to be 5th but the seats in the Dolcevita are AWFUL, I just cant get comfortable in them at all so will have to go for a 1.0 or Lounge again.
Great ‘ this will be my second 500 I love how nippy they are, easy to drive and park. Economical on fuel, tax and insurance as a work run around it fits the bill perfectly.
Exceptional little car which offers all required for a reliable drive with style. All at a price which doesn’t break the bank.
Superb looking Car, Easy to Drive low tax bracket. Cheap to ensure. Has reasonable features
I think my car is great value. Lovely to drive , super to park. Very cheap road tax and insurance.. it’s got everything I need.
