Ford Focus review (2018-2025) | The go-to family hatchback
After 27 years, the Ford Focus is no more. Production ended in November 2025, just three years after the company announced plans to stop building the Focus and Fiesta, both former mainstays of the UK car market.
The fourth-generation Focus, launched in 2018, was the last of the line. As consumers and manufacturers have moved towards SUVs, there are fewer hatchbacks on our roads. Which is partly what makes buying a used Focus such an appealing prospect.
Given its seven-year production run, there is plenty of choice if you’re in the market for a used Mk4 Ford Focus. There are estates and hatchbacks, petrols, diesels and hybrids: not forgetting the sporty ST versions, too.

(12 reviews)No 5 star rating due to most engines being fitted with wet timing belt. An absolutely disastrous idea in comparison to a chain. Unfortunately many manufacturers are starting to use wet belts, which inevitably will lead to expensive belt failures, and even simple replacements are expensive. So far, this car is everything I wanted in a Focus ST. It is just awesome in every area. Power, handling, speed and comfort. Not to mention all the features which I havent explored fully yet. Great car. Highly recommended...
After having my St line this focus active is like a rolls Royce rear passanger leg space is so much better storage space at front of console is ideal door pockets alot smaller. The boot is well thought out with an extra floor level. I am a Ford lover. The focus estate best around for me. Different driving modes too.
St line X looks superb, lots of extras. Should do plenty mag as 1.5 diesel. Normal, Eco or Sport modes. Eve has Heads Up Display
