| Generous standard equipment | Short new-car warranty |
| Choice of petrol and electric versions | Some electric rivals offer longer ranges |
Quick Summary
The Ford Puma SUV, launched in 2019 and updated in 2025, is a highly popular compact crossover known for its blend of style, practicality, and engaging driving dynamics. It successfully resurrected the Puma badge, becoming one of the UK's best-selling small crossovers. Despite its compact size, it offers impressive practicality, notably featuring a 456-litre boot with a clever 'MegaBox' underfloor compartment (or 'GigaBox' in the Gen-E), making it surprisingly spacious for its class.
The Puma range includes popular 1.0-litre EcoBoost mild-hybrid petrol engines, available with manual or automatic transmissions, delivering around 48-52mpg. A fully electric Puma Gen-E was introduced in 2025, offering 165bhp, a 233-mile range, and highly competitive running costs, particularly with Ford's 'Power Promise'. All models benefit from generous standard equipment, with a 12.0-inch touchscreen and 12.8-inch digital instrument cluster as standard after the 2025 facelift, reinforcing its value in a competitive segment.
Best for: Drivers seeking a stylish, practical, and fun-to-drive compact SUV, those needing a versatile boot with innovative storage, or buyers looking for an affordable and well-equipped electric family car (Gen-E).
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising maximum rear headroom, those desiring a longer new-car warranty, or those needing a longer electric range than the Gen-E offers compared to some rivals.

The Verdict

Consider alternatives if: You prioritise maximum rear headroom, desire a longer new-car warranty, or need a longer electric range than the Gen-E offers compared to some rivals.
Competitive Position: The Ford Puma stands out in the compact crossover market by successfully combining distinctive style, strong value, and engaging driving manners. While some rivals might offer slightly more rear headroom or longer EV ranges, the Puma's unique 'MegaBox' boot, comprehensive standard equipment, and appealing petrol and electric powertrain options make it a compelling all-rounder. Its widespread popularity, including being the UK's best-selling car in 2025, underscores its strong competitive stance as a practical, fun, and well-priced option.

3.9 Overall rating
(7 reviews)Fully loaded and fun to drive. Good value for what you get. Interior quality not up to European equivalents but engine and gear box a real peach. Condensation in the front and rear lights annoying though.
Love the look, seats are comfy,. Touchscreen easy to navigate and set up. Nice smooth gear change. Be careful to pull the handbrake right up when parking on a hill. …
Fantastic, nippy , stylish small SUV driving is a joy especially with the very large screens on the dash
why should i pay a lot of money for a suv that doesnt have a reversing camera as standard, and have to pay 5 or 6 hundred pounds to get a drivers assit pack to get a camers
to menny extras need to be added to this car to make it a viable option. eg have to have a drivers assist pack to get a rear view camera. the rear view camera should be standard
