Good value for the money paid. A lovely car to drive. The extra safety features are a bonus. Economical on fuel so actually saving money on the amount of driving we do compared to our last car. Great for the dogs. Plenty of room and very comfortable.

Hyundai Bayon (2021-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Striking and unusual design | Uninspired interior design |
| Spacious and comfortable cabin | Lacks the sliding rear seats fitted to many rivals |
| Long warranty | Not as well equipped as the Hyundai Kona |
Quick Summary
The Hyundai Bayon (2021-present) is a compact SUV that stands out from the crowd with its radical styling, featuring a distinctive snub nose, angular side profile, and boomerang-style rear lights. Based on the Hyundai i20 hatchback, it shares the same dashboard, which is clearly laid out and easy to use, though constructed from cheap-feeling plastics. The interior is roomy with plenty of headroom and legroom, though boot space is modest and rear seats don't slide like some rivals. Available with three trim levels (SE Connect, Premium, and Ultimate), it offers good value with competitive pricing and a long warranty.
The Bayon is powered by two 1.0-litre turbo T-GDi petrol engines with 48-volt mild hybrid technology: 99bhp and 118bhp versions, both available with six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearboxes. The 118bhp engine is more engaging with better mid-range punch, and the Bayon is surprisingly fun to drive with responsive steering and plenty of grip. Real-world fuel economy ranges from 45-50mpg, and running costs are kept low by Hyundai's reasonable servicing costs and a metal timing chain that shouldn't need replacing. Overall, it's a well-rounded, spacious, and comfortable package that offers excellent value for money.
Best for: Buyers seeking a distinctive compact SUV with good practicality, comfort, and value for money, plus those who appreciate Hyundai's competitive pricing and long warranty.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising premium interior quality, maximum versatility with sliding rear seats, or the most comprehensive equipment levels.

The Verdict
You should buy the Bayon if: You want a distinctive compact SUV with excellent practicality and comfort, value for money, and appreciate Hyundai's competitive pricing and long warranty.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise premium interior quality, maximum versatility with sliding rear seats, or the most comprehensive equipment levels.
Competitive Position: The Hyundai Bayon (2021-present) is a strong contender in the compact SUV market, offering excellent value and a well-rounded package. Whilst rivals like the Renault Captur and Volkswagen T-Cross may feel more upmarket, the Bayon's striking design, spacious interior, and competitive pricing make it a compelling choice. Its user rating of 5.0 out of 5 is the highest in its class, reflecting strong customer satisfaction. With Hyundai's reputation for reliability and excellent warranty coverage, the Bayon represents a sensible and distinctive alternative to more conventional rivals.
