Great car and customer service from Blackdown 4x4 centre. The car was presented in very good condition , only let down was the hole in the rubber mat on drivers side which was covered by the paper foot mat.

Excellent features on the Evoque, drives very nice, not as harsh as my previous vehicle. Controls easy to work. Everything to hand for the driver. The Heads up is new to me, but a fantastic feature to have. Overall very pleased with the vehicle.

Range Rover Evoque (2019-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| More affordable than a large Range Rover | Land Rover's reliability record is a concern |
| Comfortable ride on standard or adaptive suspension | Not as sporty to drive as the first-generation Evoque |
| Plug-in hybrid can be cheap to run if charged regularly | Some rivals are roomier |
Quick Summary
The Range Rover Evoque (2019-present) is a stylish and luxurious compact premium SUV that delivers Range Rover class and appeal at a more accessible price point. The second-generation model retains the original's coupe-like profile and fashion-conscious image whilst adding smoother styling, a more upmarket interior, and modern Range Rover touches including flush door handles. The cabin feels classy and upmarket, with a good driving position and excellent perceived quality, though some lower-area plastics lack the plushness you might expect. Boot space is reasonable at 591 litres with rear seats up, extending to 1,383 litres folded down.
The driving experience is more grown-up and comfortable than the first-generation model, with a reassuring, Range Rover-like feel that prioritises comfort over cornering. It's also more capable off-road than most compact premium SUVs. Engine options include petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid versions, with many using mild-hybrid technology. The plug-in hybrid is the quickest and potentially cheapest to run with regular charging, whilst diesel versions suit motorway-heavy use. Later models feature a cleaner dashboard with an 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen running Land Rover's Pivi Pro infotainment system, though this means more functions are screen-controlled.
Best for: Buyers seeking premium style and Range Rover appeal without the large SUV price tag, company car drivers (especially plug-in hybrid versions), and those prioritising comfort and upmarket feel over practicality.
Not ideal for: Buyers concerned about Land Rover reliability, those needing maximum boot space, drivers wanting sporty handling, or those seeking the cheapest premium compact SUV to run.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Range Rover Evoque | 4/5 | 4.3/5 | 45.7% | 4.4/5 |
| Volvo XC40 | 4/5 | 4.6/5 | 38.1% | 4.5/5 |
| Audi Q3 | 4/5 | 4.3/5 | 38.6% | 4.3/5 |
| BMW X2 | 3/5 | 5.0/5 | 35.2% | 4.2/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Evoque if: You're seeking premium style and Range Rover appeal without the large SUV price tag, you're a company car driver (especially with plug-in hybrid versions), or you prioritise comfort and upmarket feel.
Consider alternatives if: You're concerned about Land Rover reliability, need maximum boot space, want sporty handling, or seek the cheapest premium compact SUV to run.
Competitive Position: The Range Rover Evoque (2019-present) is a strong contender in the premium compact SUV market, offering distinctive styling, luxurious appeal, and impressive comfort. Whilst it faces stiff competition from the Volvo XC40 (which scores higher on user ratings) and the Audi Q3 (which offers similar expert ratings), the Evoque's desirability and Range Rover badge help it hold value well. The plug-in hybrid versions make particular sense for company car drivers and those with regular charging access. However, potential buyers should be aware of Land Rover's reliability concerns and consider whether rivals offer better practicality and running costs for their needs.
