Range Rover Sport (2023-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Fantastically luxurious interior | Potential question marks over brand reliability |
| Great to drive on and off road | No seven-seat option |
| Impressive electric-only range on PHEV models | Higher-spec models are very pricey |
Quick Summary
The new Range Rover Sport (2023-present) takes many styling cues from its larger sibling, the Range Rover, featuring smooth, minimalist surfacing and a boxy silhouette. This third-generation model, launched in 2022, sits on an all-new platform. At 4.95 metres long, it's a significant SUV, slightly longer than rivals like the BMW X5. Unlike its predecessor, it no longer offers a seven-seat layout, focusing instead on luxurious five-seat comfort.
Despite its size, the Range Rover Sport offers a fantastic ride quality, thanks to its standard adaptive air suspension, and surprisingly poised handling that belies its weight. Powertrain options include six-cylinder diesel and petrol engines, alongside impressive plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) boasting up to 70 miles of electric range. The interior is exceptionally luxurious, highlighted by a 13.1-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a comprehensive suite of safety features. While expensive, it is well-equipped and projected to hold its value well.
Best for: Drivers seeking a world-class luxury SUV with a lavish interior, refined driving experience, and impressive PHEV electric range, or those who value strong resale value.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising ultimate brand reliability, those on a strict budget, or those requiring seven seats or four-wheel steering on lower trims.

The Verdict
You should buy the Range Rover Sport if: You seek a world-class luxury SUV with a lavish interior, refined driving experience, impressive PHEV electric range, or value strong resale.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise ultimate brand reliability, are on a strict budget, or require seven seats or four-wheel steering on lower trims.
Competitive Position: The Range Rover Sport (2023-present) is a strong contender in the luxury SUV segment, offering a truly world-class experience with its lavish interior, refined drive, and impressive PHEV options. Its ability to retain value is a plus. However, potential reliability concerns, high pricing, and the absence of a seven-seat option or standard four-wheel steering on all trims mean rivals like the BMW X5 might offer a more rounded package for some buyers.

4.7 Overall rating
(55 reviews)Very comfortable plenty of space seating and boot and the 4.4 litre engine has plenty of power
Yes the car was good value. It has the added advantage of having a retractable towbar which if we had chosen a different model would have cost us another £3000 to have one fitted. Hence the reason we bought it.
Absolute beast, fully loaded with equipment & loads of power and refinement.
I’ve tried the GLC GLE X5. & Q7, the Range Rover is by far the better vehicle
It does everything it says on the tin and more.Ihave a 09 3.6td HSE and for 4 years motorig repairs not including consumables stand me at £309.74 you cant fault that,Its pure luxury,i smile on every journey.
