Range Rover Sport (2023-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Fantastically luxurious interior | Potential question marks over brand reliability |
| Great to drive on and off road | No seven-seat option |
| Impressive electric-only range on PHEV models | Higher-spec models are very pricey |
Quick Summary
The Range Rover Sport (2023-present) is the third generation of Land Rover's luxurious and capable SUV, now built on an all-new platform. It mirrors the styling of the full-size Range Rover with its minimalist surfacing and high waistline, offering a commanding presence. While slightly longer than rivals like the BMW X5, it notably foregoes a seven-seat option, focusing instead on limousine-like space for five and a generous 647-litre boot, even accommodating a space-saver spare in PHEV models. The interior boasts a lavish feel with high-quality materials, 20-way electric leather seats, and a standard panoramic glass roof, ensuring comfort and a premium ambiance.
Engine options include powerful six-cylinder diesel and petrol mild-hybrids, topped by a V8 P530. The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models, like the P440e, are particularly impressive, offering up to 70 miles of pure electric range and strong performance despite their significant weight. The driving experience is refined, with fantastic ride comfort thanks to standard adaptive air suspension, and surprisingly poised handling that belies its size. The 13.1-inch Pivi Pro infotainment system provides seamless connectivity with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, complemented by intuitive physical air-con controls. However, it's a premium vehicle with high running costs and potential brand reliability concerns to consider.
Best for: Buyers seeking a luxurious, high-performance SUV with impressive driving dynamics and ride comfort, those prioritising a premium interior, and drivers looking for efficient PHEV options with significant electric range.
Not ideal for: Those on a strict budget, buyers who require a seven-seat configuration, or individuals highly sensitive to potential long-term reliability concerns.

The Verdict
You should buy the Range Rover Sport if: You're seeking a luxurious, high-performance SUV with impressive driving dynamics and ride comfort, prioritising a premium interior, and looking for efficient PHEV options with significant electric range.
Consider alternatives if: You're on a strict budget, require a seven-seat configuration, or are highly sensitive to potential long-term reliability concerns.
Competitive Position: The Range Rover Sport (2023-present) stands as a world-class luxury SUV, offering a compelling blend of opulent interior, refined driving experience, and robust performance across its diverse powertrain lineup, including highly efficient PHEV variants. While it commands a higher price point than some rivals and notably lacks a seven-seat option, its exceptional comfort, poised handling, and strong residual values make it a formidable contender in the premium SUV segment. However, potential buyers should weigh its luxurious appeal against the brand's historical reliability perceptions and the cost of higher-spec models.

4.7 Overall rating
(55 reviews)Very comfortable plenty of space seating and boot and the 4.4 litre engine has plenty of power
Yes the car was good value. It has the added advantage of having a retractable towbar which if we had chosen a different model would have cost us another £3000 to have one fitted. Hence the reason we bought it.
Absolute beast, fully loaded with equipment & loads of power and refinement.
I’ve tried the GLC GLE X5. & Q7, the Range Rover is by far the better vehicle
