Lexus RX 450h

The Lexus RX is a large five-seater luxury SUV that’s been around in the UK since the year 2000, covering four generations, and the RX450h is a derivative that is hybrid-powered. The first RX450h appeared with the third-generation RX, launched in 2009 (hybrid power was offered in the Mk2, but this was known as the RX400h), and this was the only version available. It mated a 3.5-litre petrol V6 to an electric motor to deliver 295bhp, giving it impressive performance and very decent fuel economy. The Mk4 Lexus RX450h used a development of the same system, but boosted power to 309bhp.

The car is superbly appointed and built. The main issue is to do with the relatively small mileage you get on battery power, and the motorway mpg is not great. However, it is a fantastic car.
