The Lotus Elise is a British-built, lightweight two-seater that strikes a joyous balance between a stripped out, track-worthy racer and fun, purist weekend car. It isn’t something you’d do high mileage in unless you are a seriously committed enthusiast, and it’s not a cheap car any more but, as if it’s undiluted fun you’re after, there are few cars that can better an Elise, even at three times the price.
