The Mazda CX-7 is a good example of late-noughties SUVs, because the Japanese manufacturer aimed to create a point of difference between its car and all the others hitting the market at the same time. More of a crossover than an off-roader, Mazda, actually recommended that owners didn’t go off-roading in it. It’s sportier to drive than its rivals and better looking than many, but falls down on practicality.
