The GLA-Class brought Mercedes-Benz into the growing compact SUV market. It combined A-Class hatchback underpinnings with chunkier styling and a raised driving position. While it never felt as spacious or as polished as some rivals, it still offers a premium feel, strong engine choices and a comfortable long-distance driving experience.
Today, the first-generation GLA makes the most sense as a stylish used crossover rather than a serious SUV. Rear-seat space is tight and some versions ride firmly, but facelifted models in particular still feel classy inside and carry the appeal of the three-pointed star. The outrageous Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 adds a layer of hot-hatch absurdity that few rivals can match.
