Peugeot 207 (2006-2014) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Good value as a used car | Petrol engines can be gutless at low revs |
| Practical, especially SW estate | Cramped rear seats and small boot |
| Supple ride and comfortable | Basic infotainment and useless RHD glovebox |
Quick Summary
The Peugeot 207 (2006-2014) is a supermini that replaced the 206, growing in size to offer improved practicality for a young family. It was available as three-door and five-door hatchbacks, a more practical SW estate, and a stylish CC convertible with a folding metal hard-top. While the hatchback's 270-litre boot is modest, the SW boasts a substantial 428 litres. It received a subtle facelift in 2009, and although production ended in 2012, it remains a popular used car choice.
Driving-wise, the 207 offers a supple ride and sharp steering, making it a comfortable and reasonably engaging drive, though not as nimble as a Ford Fiesta. Diesel HDi engines are praised for their mid-range pulling power and economy, with some models achieving real-world 60mpg. Petrol engines can be gutless at low revs, but VTi versions are more refined. Trim levels varied widely, with later models benefiting from Bluetooth connectivity. Safety was a strong point for its era, earning a five-star Euro NCAP rating. The GTi offers a more performance-oriented option with 175bhp.
Best for: Drivers on a budget, those seeking a practical car for a young family (especially the SW estate), or buyers looking for an efficient diesel supermini.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising ultimate driving dynamics, spacious rear seating for adults, a large standard boot, or modern infotainment features.

The Verdict
You should buy the 207 if: You're on a budget, seeking a practical car for a young family (especially the SW estate), or looking for an efficient diesel supermini.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise ultimate driving dynamics, spacious rear seating for adults, a large standard boot, or modern infotainment features.
Competitive Position: The Peugeot 207 (2006-2014) offers good value, a comfortable ride, and efficient diesel engines, making it a sensible used supermini. While it may not match the Ford Fiesta for driving thrills or the Volkswagen Polo for premium feel, its practicality (especially the SW estate), strong safety ratings for its time, and low running costs make it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers and young families.

(7 reviews)Very fond of the Peugeot make of car. Are able to get to my various destinations and makes me feel very secure when behind the wheel !
Great cars. I love Peugeots. I’ve had this age of car and model before & even a CC model. Really good price and condition too. It doesn’t have all the new tech stuff in it though like sat nav, but it does have air con which is a must for me. Comfortable and reliable too in my experience.
at least as good as anything in that range, good value,
Seems to drive well for age, a lot available and is reasonably priced for a first car.
Nice car yes good miallage and conditioning is good
