Peugeot Boxer (2006-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Impressive load space and payload | Rivals are more refined and better to drive |
| Economical 2.2-litre diesel | Some gearbox issues with older used models |
| Well equipped | Electric version won't go far on a charge |
Quick Summary
The Peugeot Boxer (2006-present) is a large van offered in various configurations, competing with models like the Volkswagen Crafter and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Introduced in 2006, it significantly improved upon its predecessor with enhanced practicality, better on-road manners, and economical HDi diesel engines. Sharing its platform with the Fiat Ducato and Citroen Relay, it provides greater storage and payload capacity than Peugeot's smaller vans.
Throughout its lifespan, the Boxer has received notable updates, including revised styling, durability improvements, and cleaner 2.0-litre and 2.2-litre BlueHDi diesel engines to meet evolving Euro emissions standards. While its age is apparent in driving dynamics compared to newer competitors, it boasts impressive load space (1,125kg to 1,870kg payload) and competitive running costs, with current diesels averaging 25-36mpg. Service plans are also available to help manage expenditure.
Best for: Businesses needing a large, practical, and economical van; those prioritising load capacity and value.
Not ideal for: Buyers seeking the most refined driving experience, cutting-edge modern features, or long-distance electric van capabilities.

Competitive Position: The Peugeot Boxer (2006-present) is a strong contender in the large van market, offering impressive load space, payload capacity, and competitive running costs. 4 Overall rating
(5 reviews)Great drive and spacious!, compared to fiat Ducatto
Simple, uncomplicated vehicle with excellent economy. Build quality is ok, but there are better. It has most things I would want, as do it’s’non-biological triplets’, the Relay and Ducato and the Relay.
I took a certified mechanic with me. He found that signals of engine overheating. Also it builds pressure on the system and keep it even after van is cool. So something happened to that van
Great value, Great condition. Just out of my price ramge
Peugeot boxer van L3 H2 is one of the top models for converting to a camper van. It is exactly the same as the fiat deccato and the Renault. The Peugeot version has the much more reliable Peugeot engine making it the choice for reliability. The 2 litre Euro engine with the add blue means they are very economical to run and environmentally friendly enough to go through London so a big plus for anyone wanting a camper.
